I was just wondering if anybody else had seen this yet before I tear Gamestop/Nintendo a new ass.

Black screen error but not the one which a lot of other people seem to be receiving. This error happens frequently and at random on my console and just started today (I have had the console since Sunday). I have googled around but can't find any instances of this mentioned online. The console is running the latest firmware and has spent most of its time on standby mode for streetpass etc.

Really disappointed in Nintendo on this one.

Just to add that I have tried it without the SD card in too and it produced the same error after a few seconds on the system menu so it is most likely RAM-related.

You can't find any other reports of this? Meaning your defective unit seems to have a unique problem and you want to go yell at someone? That sucks that you had some bad luck, but it's A defective unit not a common problem w/ the 3DS. Exchange it for a new one and let it go.

"Hey, I am here to return this damaged 3DS..."

"Aprils fools! All of ours are damaged."

"well... give me another one."

"APRIL FUCKING FOOLS! We don't have anymore.

I've found reports of the same issue for the DSi but not for the 3DS and the fact that nobody else has mentioned this online does not mean that it's a completley isolated incident.

Because of Nintendo's incompetence and crappy quality control processes I now either have to go out of my way to exchange the console in a store this weekend or wait nearly 2 weeks for them to repair/exchange it by mail.

I suggest you kill the person who sold it to you.

The other suggestions were all well and good but I think I will go with this one.

Wow didn't look twice, but can you really blame Gamestop to know whether an unopened console is in working order? I don't expect Gamestop employees to be able to find a game in their own store let alone magically see through boxes and telepathically test the condition of a new console.

You bought the 3DS from someone and not retail?

From EB Games, it was pre-ordered. It's going back to a different branch though because there is no way I am travelling for an hour to take it back to the store that it came from.

Ummm... Are you really in North Korea? If so, then how did you buy the 3DS and are you sure it's not fake?

Edit: Nevermind, saw new post.

You can't find a single person complaining of your issue online, but somehow Nintendo is incompetent and has crappy quality control issues on a part they didn't make, a part that fails intermittently (which, BTW, is one of the hardest types of problems to troubleshoot since there's rarely exact steps to reproduce the issue), and it's an issue that you yourself said did NOT start until days AFTER you got the console?

It's an issue with a part they didn't make and an issue that did not happen while they had it in their hands, so I don't see how you can go accuse them like that.

I take it you've never worked in any sort of sales? Never sold anybody a part that worked fine at the time of sale, but then malfunctioned afterwards? I'm sure you wouldn't like it if people called you incompetent then and started posting bad stuff about you online.

Whoa. When did Jimmy Kudo get here?

Whoa, when did people stop posting relevant posts?

What Rydian said is right. Nintendo isn't some godly force that can churn out perfect devices all the time. There's bound to be error somewhere.

Well I didn't want to just say "This". Anyway, I agree with Rydian.

I never really watched that series, what's the reference?
He's from a show about a teenage detective who gets turned into a kid. Jimmy's the main character, the teenage detective.
Sorry, I probably could have picked a better known reference.

I haven't posted anything bad against a particular person, only against an organisation which in this case has failed me. As for who made the RAM chips, quite frankly I don't care as Nintendo re-sold them to me as a component in their product so it is Nintendo's fault as far as I am concerned and the sheer volume of other reported 'screen of death' issues with this machine proves that Nintendo's quality control is, quite frankly, terrible.

"I am the only one who has this problem", "Nintendo is incompetent and their QA sucks".

I see you are from North Korea... Are you challenging Kim Jong Il for title of King Troll?
