I am trying to launch The Sims 3 on the TTDS with the newest firmware but I keep on getting a white screen at launch. IT successfully loads into th game but it starts up with a white screen.

Decrypted the ROM? I haven't played the game myself, so can't tell you how, but there should be a text file with the firmware download telling you how to do so.
