This is a thread for all you to share what you routines are like. I’m curious to know how many of you brush your teeth twice a day and the like.

For instance, I usually shower at night. I like to shower in the morning too, but only if I have the day off and know I’m not doing shit else. I’d rather get dirty all day and get in bed all fresh and clean. I brush my teeth after breakfast and again after dinner. When I brush my teeth at night, I’ll floss my teeth then use some mouthwash. I also use a roll on deodorant, I never knew why someone would choose a spray on deodorant. Seems like a waste. I don’t care much for my hair. Every other month, or so, I use a #2 attachment for my clippers and go to town. I do comb my hair when it gets too long, but that’s as much as it gets. Also, I use Qtips.

I exfoliate once a week. Every night I use Facial Cleanser and shower with body soap and anti dandruff shampoo & conditioner. I put avocado oils in my hair. I get rid of my black heads and pimples using an extraction tool. In the morning I put on face moisterizer, deoderant, brush my teeth with whitening tooth paste, floss and rinse out with listerine. I shave my armpit hairs, body hairs and pluck my unibrow. I buy fresh new clothing and shoes every 3 months, and throw out old ones. I pray to the Lord God all Mighty Father and I start my day. Then I go dumpster diving and swim in water filled with raw sewage.

Very purple. Like a plum. Hasn’t fallen off yet.

Just came back from the beach with it.

In the morning if my face is a little puffy I’ll put on an ice pack. After I remove the ice pack I use a deep pore cleanser lotion. In the shower I use a water activated gel cleanser, then a honey almond body scrub, and on the face an exfoliating gel scrub. Then I apply an herb-mint facial mask which I leave on for 10 minutes while I prepare the rest of my routine. I always use an after shave lotion with little or no alcohol, because alcohol dries your face out and makes you look older. Then moisturizer, then an anti-aging eye balm followed by a final moisturizing protective lotion.

Seems I am a dirty bastard compared to some of you.

Will have a shower before going anywhere notable or if I am properly stinky following a day on a building site or something. If running the dog around the field then meh. Shower ball and shower gel there. General aim is no more than about 36 hours between showers.
Will tend to wash my hair then and brush it (I have long hair), beard as well (I have a long beard too). Will occasionally run clippers on my beard if it gets too long but with "stay in your home citizen" I am going for the wild man of the woods approach. Do have a plait in my beard as well to keep it from getting in things. Have not shaved with a razor (saving getting knife nut mange testing blades I sharpen) in many years at this point and hate it.
Will brush my teeth between two and three times a day depending upon where I am and what I am doing. Usually two. I think flossing is an American invention and nobody does it around here. By the way I have never had a cavity/filling and nor have most people I meet.
Deodorant I guess I will use some spray as a matter of course. I can use a roll on but don't like them. Never liked anti perspirant as it gums everything up. Have been meaning to try that fancy salt stuff but been too lazy. For the most part anything I use does little and less -- my pits might be slightly better but if I am soaking through a tshirt then what is the point really?
Will wash my hands after using the toilet, and before if it is relevant as well as when preparing food (somehow got out of the practice of preparation there so usually end up handling meat, then washing, doing something else and realising I need to handle raw meat again and have to repeat). My preferred hand soap is builder/mechanic stuff with grit in it (Swarfega is a brand here that works well but there are plenty of others)
Will use clippers on my nails as talons is not a great thing to have.
Will run a cotton bud in my ears from time to time. Probably should have them properly syringed but I just deal with the hearing loss.

Can't say I ever do anything for my face other than maybe put some cream on it if I am on said building site (concrete dust dries you out a treat) or it is winter and get dry skin on it. While "you won't get spots when you get into your 20s" is a filthy lie they tell kids it does actually get better (with the bonus that spots are there somewhat as a precursor to making a shiny beard).
Hand cream is more for cracked hands from shoving them in solvents and what have you.
Do seem to have tough skin on my heels these days but have nice sanding sponge and some hand cream for that one if it gets too bad (I do try to keep on top of it as it wears my socks and boots out quicker).

Ok so this is for the temp members who shower every day.

You might think showering every day is good for you – and the people you work with – but new research has found that washing too often could actually be making people ill.

Researchers at Colombia University in New York say daily showers are mainly for ‘aesthetic reasons’ and open people up to infections.

Frequent hot showers or baths dry out the skin causing it to crack, which allows germs and bacteria to get into the body, according to infectious disease expert Dr Elaine Larson.

She said showering too much strips the skin of protective natural oils which can disrupt ‘good’ bacteria that supports people’s immune systems.

And although you might think washing your body is a health neccessity – its only real use is to get rid of BO.

I think showering is mostly for aesthetic reasons,’ Dr Larson said.

‘People think they’re showering for hygiene or to be cleaner, but bacteriologically, that’s not the case.’

Instead of a daily shower, dermatologist Dr Brandon Mitchell suggests bathing just once or twice a week.

The assistant professor of dermatology at George Washington University told TIME: ‘Your body is naturally a well-oiled machine.

‘I think most people over-bathe. A daily shower isn’t necessary.’

The Advice
Dr Mitchell recommends people who want to shower daily only do so if their skin feels healthy and hydrated.

Instead of washing your entire body, he suggests washing only the bits which smell – like armpits and feet.

People with dry hair should only wash it every few weeks, but those with scalp issues like dandruff may benefit from shampooing a couple of times a week.

Clean hands and clothes will better protect people from getting ill, Dr Mitchell said.
