The file IS encrypted. It is to be used in the R4 or the M3 Simply. It is not a standalone cheat file.

Ok, that's what i thought. Just thought i should ask anyway.
BTW, isnt it a bit odd to encrypt a cheat file in this case? Are they afraid peaple will find out that they cheat or what? I think they can tell by looking at the filename anyway

Oh well, i tried dragging the file instead and as i thought it didn't make any difference at all. There must be cheats for an old game like Castlevania: DoS right? Never the less, the "press y for cheats" doesn't show up.

Offtopic, but i cant get skins to work either. I put the skins in the appropriate skin folder (Theme01 for example) and i press select. But NOTHING HAPPENS! I've never gotten skins to work.
Could there be something wrong with my R4 since neither cheats or skins want to work? I don't think I'm doing anything wrong :S

It sounds like you're running an old firmware. To see what firmware you are currently running in your R4, plug it in to your DS and turn it on. In the bottom-left of the bottom screen it will say what version you are running. The R4 didn't always support AR cheats, nor did it always support multiple themes. Both of those features were added in later firmware updates.

Go here and get the latest firmware:
http://www.r4ds.com/download-en.htm

Be sure to get the correct language.

It should also be mentioned that when you update the R4's firmware, you MUST delete the "_DS_MENU.SYS" file in the root of your card. It will be re-created upon first boot of the new firmware. Failure to delete that file after updating the firmware can result in some odd operation, such as the problems you are having. So, if you already have the latest firmware (1.11), try deleting that file and see if it fixes it.

I was using the latest firmware already. I removed the file, but nothing happened.
But i think i know what's causing it now, maybe.

I'm using linux to transfer files to the microSD card and some files becomes lower case when i transfer them. I think they need to be upper case right?
The cheat.dat is lower case right now, and i tried to rename it, but nothing happens :S
I even tried to rename it in DSOrganize but it's still lower case.

But this must be the problem right?

EDIT: I read that when using linux to transfer to FAT devices, things like this can and will happen, that's why I mentioned that i use linux.
Looks like I'll need to find myself a windows PC then.

I dont think that would work, since the VM still uses linux to actually do the transfer. Not a bad idea though

But my neighbor has Win XP so I'll just go over there and try it

EDIT: Ok, now the file is upper case... but still nothing

I dont know what else it might be. I think I just wont use cheats then

This isn't really the place to ask. Cheats are being sought after by Grimalkin and others that contribute cheats. You can always check the .DAT for the cheat you want, but if it isn't there, your best bet is sites that offer codes or have people posting newly developed codes.

For 1628 - Dragon Quest Monsters - Joker, on Hiei's site, his .dat cheat file contains a stream of codes for infinite time in the Metal Menagerie. I'm not sure if I'm allowed to post the code here, but I'm curious to know why it hasn't been added under Hiei's Codes in your Custom Cheat.dat file.
