It probably would.. Yes.. You probably need the original version. I dont know.. But I know one thing.. To activate item codes.. You have to press L or R and Select or something..

I was halfway through Pokemon Diamond and I did the codes then.. They worked.. It doesnt matter when you apply them..

I believe the all item codes and such are already in there though I see some new codes in the list. What version of the game are they for? Most codes aren't interchangeable between Pokemon Diamond and Pearl due to the games having some different offsets with some codes. So mind trying them to see if they indeed work for both?

EDIT: Just tested them all on a cartridge for Pearl (U), they are all working perfectly, and they all work on my copy of Diamond. So, hopefully that helps!
