Gaming The Most Under-rated NDS games

I really like AWAY: Shuffle Dungeon. Whenever I bring it up, hardly anyone else knows what it is.

Second, there are so many DS RPG's that some of them get lost in the...shuffle. But this is one I actually sat through and beat, I gotta recommend.

I often find that people often confuse the word "Under-Rated" with "Unknown".

I find it helps when I break the words up. Under and Rated, Un and Known.

I look through Game reviews in magazines and sites, I play the game and finish it. And I often find that my opinion of a game are often close or around the "average rating" that some of these unbiased critics rate. That being said, I think "Under-Rated" games are games that I felt deserved more praise and a better score. I look through TheStump's list of "Under-Rated" games and I have nothing but ill to say about it. Not only are a majority of the games got the average ratings they deserved, they're also well pretty well known. I mean Final Fantasy Tactics Advance 2? Really?! I can't tell you how many times I've read people's Top 10 NDS list on GBATemp, Gaia Video Games Forum, and DS-Scene that include your so called "hidden" gems. Why don't you just change the thread to "All the games that aren't made by Nintendo". Rune Factory?! Henry Hatsworth?! N-fukken-plus?! I mean come on! In what cave do you live in where you think these are hidden gems. Are you even aware that N+ and Tactics Advance 2 are on IGN's Top 25 NDS Games list? The biggest site in gaming ever? There are so many games off that list that just don't belong in this topic I don't even know where to begin. They're well known by most NDS gamers and general gamers alike, and they "used" to be on many people's waiting lists before the game's release dates. And I don't quite agree with the red, Must Play list. I don't remember Electro Plankton giving me more than 10 minutes of so-called "entertainment" because its a toy, not an actual game. And I don't agree with many more of the red titles, and I would strongly recommend that more of the ones in black to be in red. I don't mean to disrespect you Stumpy, I'm sure outside this this, you're a relatively smart individual and OK guy, but your thread is a fairly lousy one given the type of topic. Too me it seems as if the list is just way too overly biased, but hopefully its yours and Panzer's fault so he can shoulder some of the blame too.

I only agree with one "Under-rated" game. Neves. Its not well known, and it didn't get reviews that I don't agree with.
I also don't see True Swing Golf on there, which is a better golf game than any NDS Tiger Woods ever was, yet receives almost no talk among the peers.
I don't see how you could include Music Hour without adding Music Night/Pop Princess.

Bottom line, I could go on and on about whats wrong with this picture.

I do not think that IGN rating the game/games on the top 25 list makes it a popular game. Many people still do not look for third-party titles and so games under that category usually perform poorly in comparison to nintendo made games. However, some games, nintendo realizes that games are good and advertise them as their own such as professor layton. Sure, that series isn't made by nintendo and we all know that, but people who do not go to fan sites or gaming sites of any kind are unaware. Those games that sell poorly but are decent games are the games listed on this list. That is why n+ and henry hatsworth are on this list. They sold poorly and are not well known to just the everyday DS player. Sure, we may know of these titles but others don't. This is why this list is created and i still use to find a game to play. i also like neves but i haven't given true swing golf a shot. I will try it out.

This is what this list is for! Have you played Maestro: Jump In Music? Most people have not but it is a great and quick game. Just what the DS is for

Then going by that logic, the very existence of this list is useless.
If a person doesn't visit a gaming list, then they likely don't visit GBATemp/gaming forums.
And if they're the rare kind of person that will visit a Gaming forum without going to a gamin site, then still their chances of hearing word of the titles are quite high. I only used IGN as an example, in no way did I mean everyone goes to IGN. But that "I can't tell you how many times I've read people's Top 10 NDS list on GBATemp" is very true. Alot of the games on that list are mentioned quite often on Temp. So much that not even a 3rd of that list should even be up there because the titles have been mentioned many a time in the forums. And I wasn't joking about the list saying ""All the games that aren't made by Nintendo." (Yes I realize that some games are Nintendo's) Nintendo isn't perfect themselves. They've had some less than successful games. EBA must have not sell well enough for a sequel yet it scored 9's and 9/5's almost everywhere. Is that an underrated game? What about my suggestion for True Swing Golf? Why wasn't it already up there before I commented? Where in the world is Sudoku Grindmaster? Ect... Ect... Ect... The list might not be 100% crap, but it has maybe 10 times the amount of games that don't belong there than the amount of games that actually do.

i don't think that sudoku gridmaster deserves a spot. Only one sudoku game should rein supreme and that is platinum sudoku in my mind (or brain training/brain age).

The only way i found out about henry hatsworth was by this list. It isn't as if every person that visits sites like IGN look at the top 25 games (or something of the sort). When i joined this site under a year ago, the henry hatsworth game news had died down and i had not heard of it. N+ was the first game i got for my R4 (now using acekard) and i loved it. The only reason i knew about it was because i played the flash game called 'N: the way of the ninja'. It was one of my favourite PC games at the time and i am a member of the official site and was eagerly awaiting the release. Other people including members of this site are not as knowing as you might think. On the first page of this forum, none of the topics (at time of post) mention henry hatsworth other than this one.

To me, this list is a very important and fantastic source of information. Mods, please do not delete

EBA is one of my fave games and i play it whenever i want a music game and the insanity of rhythm heaven is too much for me. It has not sold well and i think this is because it is only appealing to a certain kind of gamer. When i was showing EBA to my friends for the first time, they all laughed at me for the rest of the week. They were all ipod touch and x-box owners and they all thought that games needed good graphics and good story. I proved them wrong and they all got a DS. This was all because of a few of the games on this list. We should share with the world.

I completely disagree. I'd actually go so far as to say that it's amazing in many ways and, without a doubt, pushing the boundaries of RPGs, handheld or otherwise. The code system was simply extraordinary, not only in terms of gameplay, but also in terms of its meaning in the story. That being said, yeah, the developers didn't do the best job of letting you sort through everything, and with an insane amount of code bits to sift through, things got tedious quick. Not all of the level design was great, either. The combat was pretty clever, though, and ultimately, it was an incredibly unique game that got the shaft. Warts notwithstanding, it's a game well worth diving into.

If anybody enjoys the Visual Novel genre, Lux-Pain would be a game to check out.

oh gross... i was so pumped for this and then i actually played it... the voice acting and text dont even match. typos galore. a novel is supposed to have as little text glitches as possible since thats what its focus is. and instead all i could understand in it was the developers rushed it out to make 5 bucks.

Lemme see, I've dug up some games not too long ago, but I don't remember them all...

Ah here's one: quickspot by bandai namco. It's basically spot the difference with the top screen showing one picture and use the touch screen to point out the differences. Although the game doesn't have too many modes, it does have many pictures, including video game related ones like klonoa (hope I spelled that right). You can even play the game with 6 players using a hot potato principle, in which you have to spot the difference in time, or else a bomb will explode, best thing is that you only need one ds for this.

There was also this Japanese jigsaw game I played that was really good, but it had a really long ass name, so I have to look into that one...

Edit: found it... The game is called "Jigsaw world: Daigekitou! jig-battle heroes" and it was made by Nippon ichi software (NIS) they were also the ones that made disgae for the nds. Well although the game is in full Japanese it is actually a really simple and fun jigsaw puzzle game. The goal of the game is like every jigsaw to complete the puzzle by picking up the pieces and putting it down in the right spot. But there's a catch: you've got opponents who also try to complete it! Players can steal pieces and use special powers like seeing where the piece belongs or shuffling pieces. Add up some anime characters and gorgeous pictures and you get tons of fun. I haven't tried multi-player yet, because not many people have it, but I think it can make a really good party/puzzle game. (might even make a better game if it is fully translated...)

Either way, May 21st, DBBDX is coming out in Europe as Jam With the Band, and since Nintendo has given it NO advertising... yeah, another game to add to the list

i mean realy, people go play NSMB if you want a mario clone. (better yet, go get super mario brothers for nes, it even has better graphics, and a deeper storyline.)
