Honestly, I find myself using the correct buttons based on what controller I hold. Even when I'm using a Switch controller on PC (which would be closer-associated with Xbox), I find my thumb gravitating to the right for the confirm button.

What does annoy me, though, is ports of games that want to keep the physical layout of the buttons on their original platform. I've seen several games on Switch that deadass just went ‘Press B to confirm and A to cancel.’

Call of Duty on the Wii. All of them. It's something I think about from time to time. Nintendo (and Japanese Sony consoles) flip the inputs for some reason. I always thought it was a Japanese thing. With the guideline game I'm working on, I decided to have the menus keep it's style (Nintendo confirm with a, cancel with b) but during gameplay, keep it universal.
