never had betavideos, but i did rent VHS and the Video Club. They started charging rewing fees very late (DVDs were already a thing when they started to). But I never heard of these rumors. We always rewinded our VHS with our player.

The name was "Betavideo" but never rented betamax they rented VHS and Laser disc!!

the problem was on the late 80's and 90's all the videos at my city was called "betas" why? beat me! I supposed was the case of calling a product by the name of a brand.

we all did that here. We always called the NES a "Nintendo" and the SNES a "Super Nintendo". I never knew anybody who called them NES or SNES

EDIT : I actually knew one, a girl at highschool who called the NES a NES, but she was an immigrant from France, guess that's why

not here. But people from older generation (baby boomers) called all console Nintendo (true on that part) and all handheld a Gameboy

Even today the GR44 batteries are normally called "pilas de Atari" because all those game and watch chinese clones and all of them was called "Ataris" and almost of them used GR44 batteries.
