Hacking The DSi's Firmware

Does anyone know exactly how people like Dark_Alex figure this stuff out? If it doesn't require too much extra hardware and just programming knowledge, I might try to look into it. Also note, just because I only have 4 posts or whatever doesn't mean I'm a nub.

No just kidding. To my knowledge coding custom firmware has nothing to do with hardware really, although you do need a way to dump the firmware. And even then it's probably going to be some huge disorganized code that will take atleast a couple months to figure out.

Fine by me, kyomagi. It would be enough to prove if the AK2i works or not. Just as long as the screens are visible and not too blurry so that we can't read them.

I'll do my best, i'll prolly do an unboxing of it while im at it and do the big finish as a test.

Sounds good to me! A note, get someone else to hold the camera for you or use a stand. It makes your video look more professional.

Bad news...I have decided not to get the dsi and stick with my DS lite.

Main reasons is the ONLY thing that the dsi will have that i already dont have is the download play. I have an ipod touch and camera ect, it was not in my best interest to get a dsi.

Aww, that's a letdown. Oh well, no worries. I'm sure someone else will prove that the AK2i works or doesn't work in the NA DSi.

I have a jap dsi with fully updated firmware and acekard2i still works, so i dont think nintendo will make a special firmware just for the european ds to block flashcarts.

I never said the euro/US version would get a special firmware, what I did say was that the US/Euro's DSi's base firmware (the firmware that comes with a new model your buy) would be a different on from JP's. And I also suggested that the new base firmware would probably block flashcarts, JP would still get the firmware...just they'd have to update for it.

Dude i think it is best to have DS Roms Run in a SEPERATE MENU THEN THE DSI MENU
, CAMERA ENABLE HOMEBREW I DON'T THINK IT IS A VERY GOOD IDEA,

But an Emulator Channel is cool
but how will we be able to get the firmware on the system because the firmware can only be updated from nintendo
or you could make a DSiWare Program for The SD Card.
