Hello.:)

That could be maybe a HDD Intialization/Re-Intialization Issue.:(

- How is your vWii´s cIOs Setup (249 and 250) please ?
- How is your HDD connected please ?
(Y-USB Cable or Single USB,the Wii U needs "more" Power for the USB HDD´s because of the different (USB)Architecture fro the Wii).
- Do you have an Additional Power Supply for the HDD ?
- Which USB Ports on the Wii U did you use (maybe your HDD works better on the back Ports if you did not already tried it).
- Which Version from the USBLoader GX did you use please ?

Of Course you can try the other USBLoaders Wii'Flow/WiiFLow Lite MOD/Configurable USB Loader. If you have the Same Issues, then maybe one of the Points above could help you.:)

Thank you.:)

Thanks for your response. As to your points:

1. As per the wiiu.hacks.guide VWii section (which is the specific guide I followed)

cIOS : d2x-v10-beta52-vWii
cIOS base : 56
cIOS slot : 249
cIOS : d2x-v10-beta52-vWii
cIOS base : 57
cIOS slot : 250

2. I'm using a single USB, though have a y cable that I'm using for my WiiU games off an external hdd
3. It is externally powered from it's own power point
4. I'm using the Top Back usb port
5. I'm using the latest version of USB Loader GX from the official Sourceforge page, which should be 1272. I can double check this but it should be the latest release.

Please let me know if there's anything else you require :)

Thanks again!

Rakoj:
sorry, I don't know why the HDD doesn't re-init when you exit a game.
you could try to set the Loader's IOS to 249 (or 250, in fact set it to the same number than your "game's IOS") in the loader's settings.
it'll use cIOS to init the drive instead of IOS58.

some newer drive requires 58, but maybe yours prefer cIOS :)
or the other way around if you updated from a previous version, it was 249 by default, try with 58.
try that and let us know.

Hello! So, I've recently installed the Homebrew Channel on my vWii and cIOS stuff except for IOS236. Dumb question, but since I already have IOS80 installed, can I also install IOS236?
And yes, I've backed up my vWii's NAND in case of a brick.
Thank you!

Not sure what ios236 is for, but when I did my mod of wii u, the guide i used didn't require me to install such a thing. Only Cios I installed was 249, 250, 251. That's where it ends. So, not sure anything else is required. :ninja:

Hello.:)

You "need" this (patched) IOSes for:

IOS80 is needed for use/move custom Wii Channels to the SD Card and also can be started then from the SD Card.
IOS236 is used for Programs that do not support HW_AHBPROT so they can modify the NAND.

I think,Both are not really relevant for vWii´s USB Game loading.:)

Thank you.:)

Thank you for an amazing guide. Got everything working except I can't get the Wii games to load on USBloadergx. When I start the games, I just get a black screen. I have to pull the power plug of the Wiiu to reset.

Any guesses on what I might've done wrong? Internet research suggests CIOS issue but I've tried literally every combination that purportedly works (yours obviously first of course).

Thank you

So I tried every combination of USB port on the Wii, including using a USB power adapter on the Y cable... and now the drive won't detect in USB Loader GX at all anymore...

I may end up wiping the disk and reformatting and trying again... but... everything did still look legit in Windows.

Also -- I seemed to have the most luck with the front (2) USB ports rather than the (2) rear. When I went to change this from USB port 0, it said this was not possible due to not running Hermes.

Did you ever get your issue solved? I have the same exact problem!

Hello,

Just a tip:

Never unplug the power plug from the Wii U when it is on, you risk damaging your wii U ==>
keep pressing "power", and it will turn off by itself.

Should I hold it or do i press repeatedly? I tried both but it won't turn off.

I'm not entirely sure that the thing about the Power button is actually true. Yes, you CAN force the Wii U to shutdown by holding the Power button for about 4 seconds, but I have been in a few situations where it just will not respond at all. Unless jeanotte is talking about holding the power button for an entire minute or more, then there are situations where you can't turn it off with the power button alone.

Never pulling the cord though, is solid advice. Just turn off the Power socket itself instead.

Hello,

That's what I was trying to say .

There are situations where it is necessary to turn off the wii U at the switch on the outlet.

hello, I tried to modify the vwii following the guide but I have a problem, during the passage with D2X cIOS Installer Mod v2.2 at the time of select cios it makes me choose up to the d2x v6 while the v10 no, and then usb loader gx mi it shows the game on the external hdd but when i click x start it closes usb loader gx and returns to homebrew. according to you the problem of the d2x ciso can be the cause of the problem usb loader gx ... I tried to use wiiflow but after 5 minutes it loads it doesn't find any game. what can i do thanks

Hello,

you got the archive "cios d2x installer" here and put it in your APPS on your SD, then launch it ?? ==>https://gbatemp.net/threads/the-definitive-vwii-hacking-guide.425852/#13

Just wondering, my Wii U is currently hacked to play Wii U games off my USB HDD; I haven't done anything with vWii yet.

I'd like to play Wii U, Wii, and GC games off the same HDD using WiiVC Injector: how much of this guide do I have to follow? All of it?

Pretty sure you need a second harddrive for your wii games. I know I read it as part of the guide or somewhere else. Correct me if I'm wrong.
