usbstick (flash drive) are very badly compatible with Wii and WiiU.
if you find a compatible one, you are lucky. I'm not sure it's true, but I feel like old devices are more compatible.
but most probably you'll just experience random freezes, blackscreen at game launch, or even device not detected at all.
if it works, it's limited to read only (you can't download covers, cheats, saving the settings or creating a memory card might crash and corrupt your partition).

a way to make it semi-usable, is to format it to the old deprecated WBFS partition format. but you'll lose all other homebrew possibilities (gamecube, emualtors, apps, etc.)
semi-usable means : read only !
you can't expect to use it to write, dump disc to the device. use your PC to put games on it.

WBFS partition is not wrong, but deprecated. and you'll miss all new features you could enjoy by using FAT32 HDD instead.

Could i ask you a question i have Haxchi they used the Mario Kart DS Rom. But if i try to make a Coldboot Haxchi should i overwrite the same Rom? Because i have two of them Mario Kart DS and Dr. Kawashima. And Mario Kart is the only one that is usable, Dr Kawashima is not compatible with that (PAL Version). I wan´t brick my System.

overwrite the one you use with haxchi. You are sure it's working and cbhc will work too.
if the other one doesn't work with haxchi, it'll brick your console if you install cbhc on that one because you won't be able to boot it (out of region require CFW, and you are not on CFW yet at boot, haxchi is doing that)

you did well to ask first :)

Strange thing is i try it first with Dr. Kawashima and the installer said there would be no Rom data or something but i´m not sure about the other if i could do it.

Thx for your help and effort.

nothing will happen.
WiiU did not update or edit vWii for a very long time. Existing softmods will not be lost.
I kinda wanna format my wiiu just to start fresh but with everything i have installed i dont know what would happen, brick ? or do i have to uninstall hacked vWii first

if you installed CBHC : brick !
if you installed haxchi, or nothing (and still use browserhax) : no brick, just useless steps to redo. you'll just lose everything you installed/bought, but it won't restore old version of titles/content/channels.

format is more a "delete account and user info" option.
I'm not sure this is what you are looking for.
Seeing you are using redNAND, formatting sysNAND will definitely unlink both NANDs and a title installed on one won't display anymore on the other (because they are stored in different folders on SD card).

Yeah i wanted to delete my account format it clean it out but i wasn't sure what the result would be or if the vwii would remain hacked or would i have to mod it all over again. I do plan to install HaxChi/CBHC so from what in understand i have to reinstall everything again anyways since i did everything under rednand

Hi, I'm having a problem installing the homebrew channel using the Wii U method (since I'm on CBHC). I followed the steps and now when I launch the homebrew channel from the vWii I got black screen. I have to remove the power cable to reboot the console. Any idea how to fix that? Should I try uninstall it via wuphax, then try again?

I found a solution myself: it happens only when launching the vWii in tv mode only, everything works fine when launching in tv and gamepad mode!

Let's say hypothetically I deleted the Homebrew Channel through Wii settings > Data Management > Channels.

How do you restore it when you followed this guide?

Actually when I tried to run hackmii to see if there was any uninstall option for the homebrew launcher, it gave the following message:
"There is no known vulnerable IOS installed on this Wii. Please note that we will not use a fakesigned IOS due to security reasons."

So if for some reason I accidentally deleted the homebrew channel, and tried reinstalling it through this method (the first one using the Wii U HBC). Will I still get the same message, and if so why did I get it? I used the Super Smash Brothers method, will that just work again in the same way to reinstall?

EDIT: Well I tried this out just for my own sanity. Hackmii is a little weird, and doesn't always work. If it doesn't it'll give the message "There is no known vulnerable IOS installed on this Wii. Please note that we will not use a fakesigned IOS due to security reasons." Just rebooted my Wii U, and then it ran fine and I was able to install or uninstall the homebrew launcher.

Morning all,

I dug through about half of this thread and didn't find many mentioned of the issue I'm running into. I'm on 5.5.3 and for whatever, I suddenly seem to really care about getting USB Loader GX working properly inside of the vWii.

I used "d2x-v10-beta52-vWii" for 56/57/58 w/ slot 249/250/251 and installed the modified IOS 236 (as mentioned on page 1) -- but whenever I load USB Loader GX -- I see a listing of my games, I click them, the splash screen (for Mario Kart for example) comes up -- but when I hit the "Start" button the screen just goes completely black -- the game pad is unresponsive, and I have to unplug the Wii U/hard shutdown the pad to power off.

I tried updating USB Loader GX to a newer version, but the same issues persist.

I'm using an 1 TB WD Passport (with a Y cable) plugged into the back of the WiiU -- FAT32, proper sectors, hidden w/ uStealth, etc. etc. -- games were all copied from my USB drive connected to my actual Wii (with no issues).

At this point it's become an obsession more than anything else. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thank-you!
