Is this update only for the U.S. Wii?
So I guess an installed WAD installer still works?

How about for example Manhunt 2 uncut (Its trucha signed)?
Will GCOS boot disc still work?
What about us PAL Wii users?

Is the workaround easy to do?
I guess SSBB PAL is gonna need the update.
No
Yes

It wouldn't work if you launch it using the Disc Channel. Use Gecko Region Free instead.
Haven't tried
It is out on PAL

Should be
We better hope not.

Thanx for the quick answers!
I have not updated but feel pity for the ones who have.
For U.S gamers theres one thing, but now SMB:lost levels is gone again for people who dont have it on PAL Wii.

If the fix is delayd I think some modification stores may have tools for deleting firmwares and install older ones.

It would be interesting if our regionfree patched(regionfrii) games work or not.

well you are wrong... because the trucha bug IS the signature bug, used by any applications to sign titles they want to install

HB channel comes with a channel installer that need to be launched either from a disc (BIIIP, that does not work anymore) or a hacked TP save (BIIIIP? they are now automatically deleted)

maybe you could still install through the WAD ?
Objection.

HBC doesn't use the Trucha Signer exploit itself. You can update your Wii with the HBC without problems.

what I wanted to say is that HB channel relies on the signature bug to be installed, like any other channels

the two "normal" methods to install it have been forbidden (trucha disc and hacked zelda save)

but the fact is:

- the signature is not checked for already installed channels/title (that's why HB channel or any other custom channels still work)
- applications in custom channels (HB channel, WAD manager,...) use an IOS version that still have the signature bug so you can still install new content (i.e channels) from them (that's where the WAD installer version of the HB channel becomes useful, if you had a custom WAD manager channel for example)

you can also still install hacked/custom channels using WAD manager channel or WAD manager through the HB channel

in conclusion, this is only annoying for those who still didn't have any custom channels installed

Can someone explain to me why WiiScrubber needs the key.bin? Is this because of the Trucha option? In any event, if you don't use Trucha scrub type are scrubbed games affected by the new update?

yeah, wii scrubber needs it if you edit/replace files. If you just want to shrink the iso, it doesn't use it.

Do backup disks still work with no problems with a modchip like the D2CKey after installing this update? Was anyone able to test it?

Ok here is a brief list of whats broken and whats not:

Broken:
Twilight Hack
Freeloader
Trucha signed ISOS (anything that modifies the contents of a game)[exception when using gecko region free I hear]

Working:
All modchips
HBC
All wads N homebrew (even GCOS)
Wii scrubber(for shrinking only)
