Hmm, what flashcart and firmware are you using owamugen?
R4 with Wood R4 1.07.

I got the path editor for the font and ini path to work but can't get the text file location other than /Text/ to work, it see the files but went I try to load them, stuck on Loading screen.

I got a Text and app folder on the root, the nds file is in the app folder, and the text files are in the text folder. I rename the Text folder to FAQ and modify the nds to accept /FAQ/ as the text file path. Just doesn't work.

Hmm, could you try and download version 2.2a (It'll be on Filetrip). That version is almost identical, minus several bug fixes, but it outputs debug information whilst loading a file (something I removed from the latest version). The file loading should be very similar, so it might shed light on whats going wrong.

I think I found the problem, seems like it doesn't accept 3 letter for name of the folder, so 4 or more.

Still have the problem with last line cutting off in the Chrono Trigger guide what I'm seeing is:

Original:
Thank you for reading my FAQ (my fifth official FAQ!), and I hope you find
this very useful!

TextDS:
Thank you for reading my FAQ (my fifth official FAQ!), and I hope you find

MoonShell
Thank you for reading my FAQ (my fifth official FAQ!), and I hope you find
this very useful!

It's not a big problem but the last line is missing.

I will try the other versions and see.

Thanks for finding the cause of the problem, I now know what is wrong, can't believe I overlooked it

I'll fix it for the next version. Still not sure about the last line thing, do any other files do it?

Now this is looking better and better.
It's already my third favorite homebrew on the DS ( the first being ZXDS, and the second ScummvmDS ).
And I really needed something like this, specifically to read Gamefaq FAQs, since I mentioned several times before that it's useful to have FAQs handy on the DS while playing Wii or PC games......
And it looks like you are taking seriously all kind of feedback and try to integrate it in the application, which it's shaping up really good.
I was among the guys who posted in the original TextDS tread and and also suggested to get rid of the text converter( use a fixed 80 columns width ), add the option to use small characters and the ability to change the background colors, all things that have been done already and done pretty darn good I must add.
Because of the smaller characters now ( which still look very readable , especially on my DSiXL ) , there is a lot less left/right scrolling to do now, and the experience improved a lot.
I was playing with it a little bit yesterday and I thought of one idea that you might like :
How about if the scrolling window would automatically return to the left once you reach the extreme right border and push it some more ?
Like I don't know, but it's awkward to scroll back and fort on the screen in order to continue the reading.
You could make it so that if you push right on the dpad, the window would scroll to the right as usual and stop once it reaches the far side, but the if you press right again , the view would scroll all the way to the left, and maybe even scroll up the text one line so that virtually you only need one button in order to read the whole faq.
Just an idea, I wish the internet browser for the DSi had the same ability, but as it is, your application is already a better option to view this kind of files even better then the official DSi internet browser !
Congratulations, keep up the good work !

This idea was used in ComicbookDS xD (I totally forgot about that sort of ability even though I used it so much...). That would really be a nice addition and it doesn't sound like it would be that hard to add (though one thing that would be a little strange would be how far the viewer should jump since if you just jump to the next full section, you miss out on all of the sentences inbetween the first sentence you read and the next...maybe it would have to jump only one line at a time...and maybe that might mean putting everything in defined rows rather than the free movement it has).
Either way, I think the idea is a good one.

It's a good idea, I'll definitely add that in, tt should be pretty easy to add in. I'll just have it move down one rows worth of pixels and not change anything else. It'll make reading in Normal mode much easier

I'm taking a break from this project for a few days while I work on my Skin Maker again, but I'll probably update it in the next few days.

Only that file, it must be the format. :/ I added an extra empty line at the end of the file and the last line show up fine now.

Just thought of another 'visual tweak'

I've just tried it on a loooong text file (~8000 lines I think) - & on the 'loading' screen there's no indication that it's still working or not - just the word

So how about a '%' or bar that shows how much progress in loading it's done, that way people will know if it's locked up or not

Good idea, I was going to add that sort of thing in when I add skinning etc, but I might make a temporary progress bar in the meantime. It sounds like it probably was having trouble loading it, is it possible to show me the text file in question so I can test it out? 8000 lines won't be the problem, I'm currently reading a 48000 line novel on it

here's the walkthrough but I think I may've solved it (sort of)

Originally -
If I run TextDS and try loading the file straight away - it 'locks-up' on the 'loading'
If I load in another text file first, which loads in OK, then use [start] & select the large walkthrough - it works fine as well

So thinking it might be something Firefox 'does' when saving or something
- I loaded the original file into Notepad
- Select all & change font to 'arial'
- Then 'save as' ANSI (I also tried UTF-8) and the newly saved file(s) work fine in TextDS

Mwahahahaha, after much testing (not really, I just found it by chance), I found a glitch! (they are getting more rare nowandays xD) If you are on the file select screen and attempt to "scroll", it will glitch and give strange symbols above the text files. Selecting one of those strange symbols crashes the homebrew, but if you chose one of the text files actually there, it works per usual. I think this should have some secret text files that nobody knows about and then you "scroll" and bam! Secret files are revealed =D.

Updated to 2.4!

New features include:
- A progress bar when loading files (so you know if it's crashed).
- Moonshell 2 extension linking now fully supported!
- Optional debug mode (hold R when loading a file to see the debug mode, handy for finding out problems)
- The edge scrolling thing (when you hit the edge using the D-Pad to pan, after a short pause it'll move back to the left and scroll 1 line down)
- Fixed a few bugs

I'm going to take a break this time for a bit, so this'll be the last update until I decide to revamp the UI. Keep the suggestions coming though, I'll add them into the next version.

Amazing ! I was just about the add a few more FAQs on my card and while I'm at it I can even download the latest version of TEXTDS !
This is amazing, I'm loving it.
Did you consider opening up a donation page ?
