so - just to clarify (in case anyone else asks) if on system menu update 3.4 - you can get homebrew and the backup loader to run if you use this specific twilight savegame hack?

Use the hack on 3.4 to install the HomeBrewChannel beta 9.
But I guess you can't install the cIOS (yet) which is needed to run backup loader.

I'm sure there will be a fix for that very soon.

ahhh, ok, so a new cIOS would be required for 3.4 in order for the backup loader to work, and if that comes out, then everything homebrew / backup loader wise should have caught up with Nintendo's 3.4 update.

Would be impressive to see that happen this week.

Would be nice to have some form of protection like starfall on 3.4 if we get to that point. I guess though bootMII would be the answer at that point.
just use a_running_pir8's method of getting cIOS installed, it should work on 3.4(as "N" didn't patch IOS16 in update)

hmmmm, i'll wait for a more braver person than me to risk it

Hopefully someone will have a specific guide up for this soon. Having starfall on 3.2E gives me a nice warm feeling though. I may just stay there until I can get to 3.4E with that same warm feeling.

@ w_n_s, did you see my post?

Yup - I saw it - but I notice it still won't give any protection to banner bricks etc... Even though I won't be messing about with Wads etc...

I may just wait until BootMii comes out before going to 3.4E .

If there is a game that absolutely requires 3.4 and I really want to play that game, I may do it. But until that time, I might just stay on 3.2E with starfall.

This is excellent for those that updated to 3.4 though and thought all hope would be lost for a while.

glad to hear it, that is the best plan....I thought your question was "how to downgrade in order to install the loaders?" but maybe you were just predicting others will be asking that.

as for "upgrading" you should be able to just use wad manager and manually install IOS if a game really needs them, there should be no need to upgrade your actual menu

LOLzzz, we figured you were on 3.4. But you've got the all mighty 3.2 installed.
No worries then.
If a game really requires an update, you could just install the needed ios.

I downgraded from 3.4 a week ago. Nothing special about it. Though if you just want to use the backup loader you really don't have to downgrade. Just running pirates method to install the CIOS and you are good.

i think w_n_s wants to be at 3.2 and install starfall as well as the BUL... as i said before the fix a_running_pir8 came up with should work on a 3.4 wii(since the twilight hack was fix)

it's the same principals and risks but to me is well worth it... 3.2(soon to be 3.4 as Fors is working on cSM "prelude") is the "1.50 of psp"

Yup - thats how it's looking, I didn't buy a PSP until the firmware 2.01 GTA savegame hack arrived and didn't move off that firmware until the custom firmwares came out allowing the latest games to be played. So fingers crossed the Wii scene will be going the same way, and if I remember correctly, after the GTA hack (which people waited a long time for) things just accelerated from that point onwards.

it does work i have done it got cios 36 rev7.wad file installed running the backup loaders and everything.

All this downgrading/wad/"backup" talk is just reducing your chances of future hacks being useful for any of this stuff.

Just saying.

yeah, but homebrew on the psp really took off when DAX made himself known... that's when downgraders(even the 2.71 that was never gunna get decrypted) started coming out like crazy, and then his CFW, iso loader, popstation(official $ony psx emulator)... and the list continues

DAX was a godsend to the psp

I guess the most asked question on these forums in the next couple of days will be - "I am on 3.4 - how do I downgrade to get the backup loader working?
such a wind up that particular question especially when there is a "accidently" updated in there!

I'm on 3.4.

With this version of the twilight hack, will i be able to install wads?

yes, but the TP-hack dissappears on every clean boot, so install away, but don't install any wads you dont absolutely trust, cuz if you banner-brick, theres no coming back.
