We are creating a cheap opensource mod chip solution for the Switch. For now its a 5 wire solution, but might be able to get away with 4, I will also need 3-4 testers. This thing is tiny, so not for soldering noobs! Show me your soldering skills if you want in on the list :)

It has to be noted, this is in the very early design stages, only 'prototypes' are being developed right now by their team, but they looking for a few testers that are good at soldering skills, so if you advanced user with expert skills, contact them and get on-board the project.

This is actually very nice :) however, I suck at soldering
 
@DeadlyFoez - 18mm x 24mm is the actual size of SwitchME project proto by Team Rebug, how is that huge, between the sizes of dime and nickel, that to me is 'tiny' modchip.

@vb_encryption_vb - So in bed with TX (that is bad), in bed with open-source project from REBUG, I am still a baddie, how does that logic work out? -- BTW, RGH on X360 was open-source also, no one forced you to buy coolrunner's designs. -- And the Hitachi firmwares were all released for free by me, would you rather i have added DRM to it? -- And what about ps2 open-source project ICE, I supported and helped on that also.

Anyway, nasty comments are welcome, it just makes your shell tougher, I not a young punk that gets all 'scared' and 'bullied' and hangs himself because of stupid trolling words or pictures with dongles up my ass.

Where did I mention anything about open source? My statement towards tx has absolutely nothing to do with open source, however, I find it awfully convenient that TX went to shit when they sold out and your name started popping up around the forum, same with xbox-scene where I called you out before and you deleted the whole thread. Your every scenes black plague and always will be.

While we are having history lessons, how about we talk about the real reason of you having tb dongles photoshopped up your ass? How about we get Greg in here, I bet you couldn't block him fast enough.

@garyopa I'm definitely interested in your prototype, I've got me some modchip skills. I've done 360 modchips, portable GameCube build ( ribbon cable soldering rely tests a guys patience), a YouTube tut on the 3DS XL nand flash/backup... if there's future benefits to having a hardmod. Lemme know if I can volunteer as tribute.

Tiny soldering guy did tiny soldering. That thread was hilarious. He got a lot of flak for advertising (and a lot of balls).

I for one am extremely happy that a type of board like this is in the works. If I wasn't flashing the tsop or adding another 64mb of ram to my xbox back in the day it wasn't worth it. Hell I thought using a Teensy to downgrade ps3s was the funnest way possible....I don't think I ever did a downgrade any other way.
So I guess I can do tiny soldering too :P

I suck at soldering so I cheated and used conductive ink for TSOP flashing back in the day. :D

Oh those good ol' days, they actually have me confidence to fix TV's and monitors with blown capacitors. Was making money hand over first buying 'junk' and reselling. :D
 
Anyone has a clue which ic they are using?

I'm happy that this project is open source. I'm more interested in the firmware. So it would be easier to make a small dongle (without a linux kernel).
 
i use a solder diagram for RCM mode Joycon with the switch.
All work great, someone know if there is a risk for the joycon ?
 
To clear up some speculation, the (5) wires are for power, ground, D+, D-, and R is for reset for the muc itself to put it into bootloader to flash your payload.
Now the reason I say we can get away with 4 wire is if we can just set a watchdog timer to put the mcu into bootloader 5 seconds before booting payload, than there's no reason for the reset wire. The solder job it self isn't hard with 4 wire, its the reset wire I'm most worried about because it will need to be soldered to a tiny test point for the Vol- or you can use Vol+ and even the power button as the m0+ needs to be double pressed to go into bootloader. You can actually get away without soldering to Vol-/+ or power if you just want to attach a small button directly off the chip, but that's personal preference if you want your switch to have a button just hanging out somewhere. The easiest solution I believe will be 4 wire and a loop to bootloader, but well see once I have the chips in hand and can start playing around. I'm sure some people will come up with some pretty cool tricks for this chip so well just have to wait and see ;)

For those who are asking how to flash it without a usb port on it, just plug in a usb C cable into the switch once it's wired in as it uses D+/-
Than just put it in bootloader mode and flash :P
 
Anyone can tiny solder... Its the non fucking the piece (bridging traces, pigeonshit blobs, flux not cleaned off etc - its corrosive certain stuff is) that sort the men from the fairies. And reworking without completely killing the thing if you do feather-pluck it. That tiny soldering guy made me laugh though... "knock it off" indeed...

@evilsperm Please post images of the board soldered in place once the test units arrive! I'll have to pick one of these up alongside a soldering kit if it doesn't look like a horribly difficult challenge! Thanks so much!
