ok, i've been following this thread since the beginning but am a bit lost now. I'm on 3.2u with starfall and rev7 installed. Now, do i actually need to patch the system menu or just the ios's?

Both, you have to find a RVL-Systemmenu-v289.wad (this is for 3.2U), then use the tools on the first page to drag and type 249 (or "f9" hexa), then you install it, after that done without error (or a brick next to your TV), then you patch the IOS with the "MulticIOS Installer 9 to 255", no one is going to tell you wich ones you should patch because no one wants to be responsible, just like a doctor wouldn't tell you to drink alcohol or to smoke

Well... everything seems to be working ok for me on this end... it's cool to see the disc channel actually working on this wii... i think the only original it has played is LOZTP and that was for obvious reasons. Yea.... I am liking this because of the wad manager autoboot disc i now have working with out a chip.. and also starfall installed... I'd have to say that the few of us here in this thread that did this probably now have the worlds most soft modded wii's... which is pretty damn crazy... every damn IOS is now PWNED basically... hope to see some of the more important ones come around here soon... Only reason I did this was because I was getting a little bored with things since at first it was non-stop action when the famous "wan bul" was leaked by whoever.... anyways thanks for the help to all who supported and guided our consoles to a different path of softmodding... cool

So is there a good region patcher/changer out that actually forces the video to ntsc by patching it to the iso before burning or we still have to use a loader channel for that?

W.i.U. 1.1 does Region Patching and Brick Blocking very nicely. I think it's in the Downloads section here.

Cool...thanks... btw.. I am still on 249 from the beginning as well... I may never change it...who know whats in store for our Wii's these next few months, right!?!

I think I tried that W.i.U 1.1 w/ disaster day and it didn't do squat... i still need to force with gators loader... most of my games are ntsc except for a few choice ones from other regions.. anyways

What can I use to extract the original system menu and ios's from my wii? I'm interested in testing but would like to keep my original sys files intact in case i need to uninstall.

I'll give FS dumper a try. I don't know if I'll go through with patching sysmenu and the ios's yet. Either way, I think having copies of the originals on hand may just come in handy someday.

Honesty I think dumping your filesystem should be a prerequisite for this anyway. If we do write up a guide on this that will be the first step. that prevents the bombardment of people begging for original IOS's.

I've installed cIOS's in
28, 30, 31, 33, 34, 35, 36, 37, 38, 53, and 55.
Everything seems to work fine.

Wait wtf..
Doesn't system menu use IOS 30?

Yes it uses IOS30, but it can use others also. Some of us have it patched to use IOS249 since the beginning of this thread. I was thinking of installing original 3.2U system menu back now that's i've already installed cIOS30. I'd be more likely to accidently remove IOS249 than IOS30. I'll probably keep mine on IOS249 for a while longer to give different test results than from those using a cIOS30 for system menu.

But I didn't patch my sysmenu and when i went to install cIOS 30 it went fine?
Does that have the same effect as patching the system menu to use IOS249?

Yea that was the first thing I did before all those numerous changes...FS Dumper definately does the trick... but you have to be patient because it takes a while to copy all that info onto your sd card so don't freak out part of the way through it...

..count on it being atleast an hour....for the dumping process...now the hard part to me is sorting all these numbers and folders out to what they are actually which is a bitch!

I'm still asking myself is there any overall advantage to this????

Whats the pros and whats the cons? Layed out? Someone want to roll it out?

an hour wow... I'm dumping right now, guess I got time to go out for a coffee. Quick question, how do I know when the dump is finished? I only ask because the bottom line is cutoff on my TV so if it tells me to press something to exit I may not be able to read it.

Pros
- Can load discs of your own region (or patched discs from another region) directly from the disc channel.
- Faster disc recognition.
- Games accurately show up in your "daily achievements" message.

Cons
- If you power out while doing this, possible brick?
- May have issues updating.

Actually, Ether, with your Wiinea Pig. After patching the IOS's or System Menu, try updating?
If it updates correctly, then this is pretty much a perfect solution. If it doesn't, I take no responsibility for anything that happens

It has the same basic effect. Either by installing cIOS30 or patching System Menu to use IOS249. Either way the system menu is going to use an IOS that has the custom dip module and can read backups.

later in the night when my lovely whip......errr.....I mean wife go to bed, and the TV is mine, I'll star to do some test im my WiineaPig, I just turned on to cheked it and it does what they told me it does, it freeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee........................................

and it is on 3.4 so the installation of HBC is going to be a PA (pain you know where)

well, i'm back and the FS dump is finished but now I have no clue what to do with the files. If anyone has a quick explanation, or a link to some kind of guide for what I need to do please post it.

Well i finally finished patching every wii CIOS IOS9-IOS55 am uploading as we speak, will take about 20 min

All I have to say is well done guys. I have been reading this thread and learning as it all unfolds and as a certified geek, this shit is cool!
