Thats a good point wont know until its tried, But should be easy and safe to test once someone comes up with a good way to patch them

sorry to be a pain, but what program was used to get the system menu wad from the wii. I tried a pre-downloaded wad, but that didnt work.

First install the CIOS Rev7 then take the system menu wad i gave you
and download the program on the first page of this thread, and drag the system menu wad over that progrma and patch the system menu wad to IOS249 with it and install

just makesure to also patch your wii game to IOS249 through Ios patcher 1.1

We don't need to patch every IOS, it should be easier to just integrate what rebooter does (or menu patcher) into the DIP module, but none of us know how to do that

What firmware are you on now, You need to be on firmware 3.2 before attempting this, Should've said that earilier thats why it wouldn't install

You need to use File System Browser by RAVEN, and then you copy to the SD the tiket, title and all the apps from the path where SysMenu is, then use Blaze Team's WadPacker to create the Sysmenu.wad, easy??

Why dont we ask fors as this seems to be part of what CSM is. im sure hed be able to tell us what we need to do to avoid patching each game.

OK I'll send him a PM and tomorrow we'll know his opinion, also tomorrow my GuineaWiig arrives...!!!

EDIT: I send him a PM and when I looked on is cSM thread, there was a post by him saying that he will be back in a week or two, cause he is on a family vacation, so lets just wait

OK, I just did this whole thing and It does work wonderfully. I even made the Wad Manager autoboot and booted it from starfall. The WadManager DVD also shows the Nintendo GameCube Logo for it's Icon in the Disc Channel. So now we need somebody to stick in a Gamecube original and backup to see how they react to this setup. What the hell am I thinking, no way a gamecube backup is gonna run from this.

BTW... I loaded Up SSX Blur, Mortal Kombat, Red Steel and Call of Duty 3 all of which were IOS249 patched and they all of course acted as if they were Originals. I guess I'll go snatch a Gamecube backup to experiment with.

I highly doubt that a gamecube game would load up, even with the rebooter, the gamecube banner shows up but the game doesn't load.
This is caused by the MIOS or something.
Anyway, waiting for access to the tv so i can dump the files....What size is the wad supposed to be, just want to know if i do it correctly

MIOS is not what needs to be worked on for gamecube. MIOS4 has been fully hacked already but wiigator has said what needs to be done to enable game cube backups in a few posts, different dvd commands.. no one has been able to figure it out/do it yet though. here was his comment for any interested

One remark to the GameCube discussion:
I sent the source code for starting GameCube games on Wii to ppc_gba. It is not possible to run the games, because the games use the wrong DVD command to read the DVD. I don't know, if he was able to get around the problems. I haven't yet tried to get this working
I patched the MIOS and there is no further patch required for MIOS, because this will not help in any way.
What you currently could do is: Accessing DVD with Homebrew software in GameCube mode. So you could watch a DVD in GameCube mode. I don't what sense this will make, because you can this already in Wii mode, but it is possible.

Can you guys see if you can install a patched IOS30 wad to use IOS 249?

Because when I try to it doesnt work.

you can't patch an IOS to be readen by IOS249, that's why it doesn't work..!! I'm off to bed now, I'm all out of ideas, see you tomorrow guys, at least 2 good thing are going to happen to me:
1)WiineaPig arrives
2)Finally I'll get thousand posts in GBATemp, yay

I wouldn't wanna mess with Patching an IOS30 right now. That's playing with brickage. I am now finding though that with the system menu running from IOS249, I wish a lot more of my games were patched to IOS249 so they acted like originals. I wouldn't be suprised if somebody figures out how to make the disc channel patch on the fly. There's some pretty good brains around here.

BTW, Rock Band original still plays as Original recognizing it's USB instruments so no worry there.
