All too often I see absolutely gigantic images on various boards. This is a problem for users with slow/limited connections (especially when not in image view with zoom controls), but it can also be a problem when GBAtemp itself gets a bit slow. Also, storing unnecessarily large images must make this site more expensive to run long-term.
Perhaps much more importantly though, lack of any image processing means image metadata (e.g. EXIF) has to be scrubbed manually before upload. I realise this is a "PEBKAC" problem in essence, but in practice, who even considers that their photos may contain sensitive information like geolocation or camera/phone model in them? Many other online boards/sites do this at minimum, if not process further, so I bet a lot of people expect every place out there to do the same and unintentionally leave themselves exposed.
If anyone caught and inspected the latest image I sent before I scrubbed it, now you know I took it with an R800i. Not something I'd normally share, but the mistake is on me
Edit: Curiously, the vast majority of unedited images I manually looked through had no metadata whatsoever. I thought for a moment there is some automated scrubbing going on, but then I found a few counter-examples. Indeed, it is not safe to send images here before scrubbing them.
