Hacking SX OS vs SX Pro

I'm wanting to set this up for both of my nephew's Switches. Would it be smarter to buy one SX Pro and one SX OS? Or is the SX Pro dongle going to be needed to easily boot the OS each time? (My nephews are both 8).

Most switch consoles are the most of the time just in sleep mode. So if your nephews are not in the habit of holding the power button and shutting the switch completely down they won't net the pro so often. Only if the battery drains or you want to change games on the SD card.

Make sure their parents are ok with you getting their Switches banned first.

I think installing autoRCM should also be considered as well. I'd think that their switches would be cased, in whhich case it would be really bothersome if they have to remove them to rejig everytime something happens, it you definitely dont want kids their age handling something as small as the jig by themselves.

For an 8 year old, I would purely recommend the dongled SX PRO (for the ease of plug and play). But for everyone else who is a little more experienced, the SXOS (non-PRO) works just fine with NX Loader, an OTG-micro and a USB-C. Plus with Auto-RCM it's all painless, whether or not it's the PRO, or the standard SXOS.

Though, when you think about it... If a dongle gets lost (or broken), the only way is through the NX Loader (or the PC/iOS equivalents) and a USB-C cable. Which cables are cheaper to replace (since the SXPRO is getting price hiked almost weekly).

I currently only use SX OS, and I'm fine without a dongle. As you mention the OS is to be operated by two 8 year olds? They probably don't have the finesse of being able to enter RCM mode with a paperclip jig without damaging the pins so you've honestly answered your own question. The dongle and RCM jig is the easiest way to enter SX OS, if they'd be older I'd recommend a paperclip + USB C to a computer to inject payloads through TegraRCMSmash purely as it's 25$ compared to upwards of 50$, but yeah SX OS Pro is your best bet to give the younglings a chance to give Linux a nice test run

The file was zipped using 7zip. Winrar sometimes have problem unzipping 7z files. Just use 7zip to unzip this file.

Didn't know WinRar and 7zip had exclusive compression algorithms. Have I been living under a rock, heh.
