There is a video of someone installing such a component. He justifies it by saying that you can reset the modchip at any time if it doesn't work properly.

I wanted to ask you if you support the installation of this component.

If not, what do you do when the component is not installed and the chip no longer works (although it used to work fine all the time).

Is there another reset function?

Holding your power button for 12 seconds is the other option.
But if you need to do that, then probably something is not working properly either.
Chances that the hwfly will work the next time, are pretty slim.
So it's more like a choice between an instant reset or having to wait 12 seconds.

it is there to reset the modchip and not the switch...

It's just a "wireless" way for someone to reset the chip without needing to disassemble the console and physically shorting the two pins. I only see it useful for someone who's not familiar, or doesn't have the tools nor time to tinkle around the console's hardware, a general user who bought a modded switch.

About the chip not working anymore, I read that this can happen after the system update not done with daybreak app, thus the chip needs to get reset in order to retrain. If it's not update related, it needs further troubleshooting (LED color, SSH). Do you have an OLED console version?

For you I would suggest to open the console and short these two pins on the chip upon powering on. It it still doesn't work, hook it up to SSH with the USB adapter for further troubleshooting.

Ok then I will not install the component. Many thanks for the explanations.

If it should be installed in another case:

Can using a stronger magnet close to the Switch motherboard pose a problem for other components?

You wouldn't really need a magnetic reed switch if you got a good chip like HWFLY 4.2, it glitch all the time.

ok i understood that. Thanks very much.

I would like to know if a magnet can damage the components of the switch when this magnet is held to the switch.
