I’m not sure I thought the list of serials would of help me with that?

Have you actually bought it yet or are you looking at it somewhere? If it's the latter you could ask the seller when they bought the console? (prior to june/july 2018 is good) IIRC there has only been the one bundle that got released late last year.

If it's the former you can just test.

Thanks for the quick answer. I never thought I'd see a vunerable boot rom after the Wii again, yet here we are. Nintendo never disappoints.
So from a custom firmware you can just manage your saves on the real NAND? That's pretty cool. I had feared they might be encrypted or something.
Is there some way to emulate cartridges? Nintendo shouldn't be able to check if you own those, should they? Or is there a different problem with that?

It's not nintendos fault this time, it's nvidia's XD

yea, in cfw you have save managers

SXOS. for ReiNX and Atmosphere they won't work like that

Unfortunately the only CFW that can emulate cartridges is SX OS and that feature is stuck behind a paywall. With other CFW, you can install the .XCI files which functionally is the same so it should be as detectable as loading a .XCI file but people have been banned for using .XCI files with SX OS both offline and online so Nintendo is able to differentiate.

And one final question (I think): Both ReiNX and Atmosphere don't make any permanent changes to the Switch, do they?
Depends on how you define "permanent". The CFW itself won't persist when the console is shutdown or restarted but effects of CFW will remain in the system such as in the form of bogus error codes or fake tickets that can get sent to Nintendo even if you boot into OFW.

now that SX OS has sdcard emunand, what is the best way to use an sd card emunand to avoid getting banned? I only buy/play real games so being banned would be a huge blow. however i'm deathly afraid of game save corruption, so i hold back on almost all gaming until i can freely use checkpoint without fear of a ban.

anyway, i'm assuming as long as i boot directly to the sx os when the sd card is in and staying offline for using checkpoint should be safe. then when i want to buy new games, take the sd card out and boot to official firmware.

i'm a bit worried about what happens when my internal nand runs out of space when i get more games. if i have the emunand sd card in the switch and download new games to it, will nintendo be able to detect the emunand is on that sd card?

Good to know. I would have thought that CFW would block something like these permanent traces. Any developtment in that direction?

Basically do all of your hacking, CFW, and homebrew on their EmuNAND while keeping all legitimate usage in SysNAND. If you're super paranoid, you can switch SD cards but there's no reason for Nintendo to ban people for files on their SD card. Even an unhacked console can have .XCI and .NSP files on it but that doesn't mean the console is hacked.

Currently Atmosphere has reimplemented the creport sysmodule to redirect error reports to be saved on the SD card rather than the system so that way they don't get sent to Nintendo. Unfortunately, there's no way around fake tickets since these are needed to launch .NSP files.

I'm on 4.1.0, thinking about upgrading to 5.1.0 withChoiDujourNX since games are starting to require higher FW. Anything I should worry about that isn't covered in sdsetup's guide to manually updating? I was worried about the game card reader issue in particular but from what I understand (as someone who got into Switch homebrew like a week ago lol) is that that's only an issue if I were to downgrade below 4. So I should be fine, right?

Yeah pretty much. Just be aware that it will install AutoRCM to prevent fuses from being burnt. If you have AutoRCM from beforehand, you don't need to disable it as ChoiDujourNX will overwrite the partition where AutoRCM is installed anyways.

Yeah I already have AutoRCM going. Thanks for the quick reply!

Hi everyone I have a console with serial code xaw100825xxxx is it hackeable with team xecutor? If not which cfw can I use?
It may be patched. You can check if its patched or not by following this tutorial. If its not patched, you can use any CFW on it. If it is patched, either return it or keep it on as low a firmware as possible.

Another probably silly question: the new hekate_ipl.ini that just got generated on the root of my SD is fine where it is, right? Just curious because it's in a different location than the original, I was assuming it would just add kip1patch=nogc to that one automatically. Or do I need to go add it there myself?

    I just recently picked up a n64 from a garage sell, and looking to mod it and add a HDMI port to it. https://www.ebay.com/itm/3548173115...044&customid=4f3038da73b61afddf7e5e90f4153856

    I'd like to find a power strip and HDMI selector built in 1 unit, so I can select which game system I want, and will switch to that hdmi, and power on that plug/power supply only, so don't have all game systems powered all the time, but can't find anything like. May just have to make something myself.

    Maybe start a kick starter page and sell them, yea right. Big N would prob C&D me, not anything Big N related, but just because that's what they do nowdays. Then come out with they own in a year or so.

    @Xdqwerty, Nice. Which operating system are you installing?
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
    @SylverReZ, windows 10 and some linux distro like linux mint
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
    dualbooth
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
    @Xdqwerty, Yeah, I'd recommend having another OS just in-case you want to play games.

    At least Linux doesn't contain spyware than what Windows has.
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
    @SylverReZ, cuz of lag?
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
    @Xdqwerty, No. Whenever you use the internet on Windows, Microsoft collects personal data and installs bloatware that isn't necessarily needed, such as Edge.

    @SylverReZ,
    I recall @impeeza mentioned some trick about not having bloatware when installing windows where you set up your country to "world" or smh like that

  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
    Yes, you can debloat the operating system, but in some cases for me it just reinstalls them.

    @SylverReZ,
    I also recall my brother downloded a "non bloated" version of windows 11 on his pc

  • impeeza @ impeeza:
    @Xdqwerty yes, when you are installing Windows on the first steps you are asked for your current location, you MUST to select «international» so no bloatware is installed, because the bloatware is location based. if this night I have some time I will setup a VM and take screenshots.
