i'm thinking about getting an oled switch, but all the ones i've found are on 20.x firmware. since the switch will have a picofly, can i boot an emunand that i created on a different system/model (ex: a tegra x1 og switch). if not, is there any way to get 18.1.0 to work?

downgrade an emunand with daybreak and then wipe all system saves on it so it regenerates from scratch and works correctly

I’m using the switch army knife program to convert game formats. However once the game is converted I do not know what the default output file location is. Nor can I change it. Can someone tell me what it is please? Thanks.

Is it true that if your using exosphere, you dont need default.txt or emummc.txt in the host folder? I was told since exosphere blocks the identifier others are not needed

Not true. When you don't have any hosts file, it will create a default.txt, but it will only block telemetry. Here's the relevant part explaining how it works.

Hi everyone, I sent my Switch OLED to someone to install Atmosphere on it. They installed Hekate 6.3.1, Atmosphere 1.9.3, and firmware version 20.3. Is it okay to leave it like this, or would it be better to downgrade to an older version?

Leave it you have the latest atmosphere and hekate and dont downgrade your firmware it will brick your sysnand.

I'm not sure if anyone successfully downgraded their sysNAND after updating past 20.x.x, but impeeza once posted that you can downgrade emuNAND but you need to format the USER partition as well. Not sure if the same can be done on sysNAND as well.

The only issue you might run into is running out of memory if you're using lots of sys-modules or mods for certain games like ToTK. There's also a battery draining issue that was introduced in 20.x.x (probably even in 18.x.x, but it wasn't as common) if you have a real NNID linked to your profile and haven't accepted the newest EULA but you're actively blocking Nintenod servers. Other than that, it should be fine. I wouldn't recommend updating unless every homebrew app you're using is updated to work with the latest firmware and the Atmosphere.

Always update to the latest atmosphere sigpatches and hekate atmosphere works on any firmware i just installed it to my second switch on firmware 3.0.0 and the latest atmosphere worked perfect.

ONLY UPDATE YOUR CONSOLE TO 2x.x.x IF ALL THE HOMEBREW YOU USE IS UPGRADED

Sometimes you need to upgrade your console, upgrade the firmware or upgrade Atmosphère, using the @l7777 's guide (https://gbatemp.net/threads/updating-hekate-atmosphere-and-hos.631739/) as base I hope to create a list of necessary steps to successful upgrade your console.

This guide uses Hekate, if you don't want to use Hekate skip the steps about it. You may loose some features.

It's a shame Nintendo reduced the available memory for the latest firmwares. And this probably was done just for the purpose of making it easier to transfer games and stuff from the old Switch to the Switch 2. I haven't updated yet, but I'm sure this doesn't improve the user experience one bit for people who don't currently own a Switch 2. I'm on 18.1.0 and I'll stick to it as long as I can. Not that I use many sys-modules (just two actually), but I like to leave my options open.

It puts them in the Switch Army Knife folder. But there's little to absolutely zero point in converting game formats unless you keep all of your Switch game files on your PC and are converting them to nsz to save a bit of space.

I might however pick up a switch lite and mod it. I have two questions

1. Does the switch lite also require soldering for modding like the OLED model? And is picofly the way to go?

2. Feel free to not answer this but, If I mod it, will i be able to download new games from apps such as Tinfoil? Or is it possible to do manual transfers of games?

Yep, and picofly is probably the way to go nowadays.

If you find the right shop, yes. I usually just download stuff from trusted websites, check the integrity of the files with the NxFileViewer and, if they are good, install them with DBI.

Yes, the lite needs a mod chip. You can use tinfoil or manually way, which ever is easier. I do manually as tinfoil shops are hit or miss
