Few days ago, my switch was giving errors that the SD card was removed. I tried a few SD cards, but the error kept popping up and even got worse.

I figured that the SD card reader was broken. I ordered one online, and it came in today. Opened the switch, pulled out the old sd card reader and put in the new. Gave it a test, everything worked so I closed it up. Upon booting again, the picture is not displaying any picture anymore. It still makes sound and I hear that the touch screen works, just no picture. It does still show picture while docked.

The SD card reader also doesn't seem to work anymore. Neither the old or new one recognizes any sd card.

Any pointers what could be wrong? Did I fry something?

This sounds like an issue i had with my older V2 switch not too long ago.. There is a very small ribbon that connects somewhere near the SD card on the mainboard. For me, it had come loose and wasn’t making a good connection. This caused the screen to be black but i could still hear audio and use it docked just fine. Simply re-seating this one connector had solved it for me although im not sure what that ribbon is exactly for (power for the screens backlight if i had to guess- as i think it only has 2 circuits) If this sounds like your issue and you cant find the ribbon/connection, then i will try to post a pic showing the exact location when i am home later. Maybe consider carefully popping off the back cover and metal skin and checking all of the display/touch related ribbon connections.

Also, that same switch had similar SD card issues that ended up being the connector on the mainboard had lost one pin somehow. The fix for that particular issue is soldering an entire new connector for the sd reader or run a wire from a solder pad on the reader to a solder pad on the mainboard. The diagram showing which pads is on the forum here somewhere.

Thank you for your answer! I will open the switch up tomorrow and see if I can find something loose. I will post an update tomorrow 👍
