Hey guys,
I need help with my Switch Lite.
It fell down in the bathtub.
After it the screen was colorful and went of. Short Circuit I guess.

The switch still powers on and reacts to touch.
After a few days I opened it by myself and cleaned a bit corrosion around the LCD Connector with 99% isopropanol-alcohol.

But I saw that the connector itself has a “black” pin -also the flexcable does.

Is that maybe the problem?
I haven’t repaired anything by myself so far, but I am very interested in fixing and I’d like to try to do this by myself. Is it possible without professional equipment?
I attach some iphone shots (sorry - the zoom isn’t better) and am thankful for each advice.

Regards,

Looper

Ahhhh yesssss I have had three with this issue! I had to replace the connector on the board and also the flex cable. It’s a PITA bit it can be done! You’ll need a soldering station (iron and heat gun) and some low melt solder and good flux haha!

Thanks for ur answer! :)
Do you think the connector is also damaged? I‘d try to change the flexcable first. I think the equipment for
changing the connector would cost more than a new switch lite…

you cant really tell if the connector is good or not from this angle.
I had exact same water damaged NS lite on this backlight pin burn mark like your ribbon cable month ago. Turned out cable was still good but connector is bad when you view it from horizontal view with scope or magnifier.

You will need another connector to rule out port / connector. If you have to remove port best to go from bottom so you dont melt plastic. Need the right tools for the job and I recommend practicing on any dead boards with similar connectors you may have.
