Hello!

I got an nostaligia trop when playing Super Mario Dancing Stage the other day, and I was thinking: Does the dance mat work on the Wii U? Do I need the original CD/DVD or can I emulat it Because my Wii U is hacked with Aroma?

Best regards Mats ”Masse” Olsson

I mean if you have a Switch GC converter, you can use it on Nintendon't. It won't work for Wii DDR games.

Yeah! So If I wannaplay DDR I need to buy those dance mats? Super Mario Dancing Stage and DDR don’t can’t use the same hardware?
Assuming it's for Gamecube and they use GC ports then it should work in theory as they appear as standard GC controllers. Worst case, you'll have to reassign buttons iirc Nintendont has that. Unfortunately don't have a GC dancepad to test. Only have PS1 ones.

Youll need the discs or to patch ur ios. The vwii wont detect the peripherals unless its a disc. atleast thats how it is with the mic and drum dongles for rock band and guitar heros well at least i havent been able to figure it out.

If you're playing a GameCube game, the original DVD won't work, since the Wii U disc drive doesn't support GCN discs. You need a disc image. However, since the dance mat is just a fancy GCN controller like the bongos are, a standard USB adapter that works with Sm4sh and the Switch will work with Nintendont too.

You can indeed use the GameCube DDR mat on a Wii U through the Wii U GameCube controller adapter for DDR Mario Mix when booted through Nintendont. If there were other GameCube DDR games, you could use the mat on those a well, but unfortunately the system only had the Mario version.

Now, Wii DDR games can not use the GameCube controllers connected through the adapter, and even for the Wii versions, the Mats connected through the GameCube ports, not USB. So you're restricted from the bulk of games in the series that the system is capable of booting. However, there has recently appeared a solution. For the Wii DDR games on the Wii U, you can use the mayflash GameCube to Wiimote controller adapter, coupled with a simple hard mod, as seen here: https://gbatemp.net/threads/ddr-mat...ncluding-up-down-and-right-left-steps.666914/ and then you can play Wii DDR games on your Wii U!

Bumping this one. I have a Gamecube/Wii DDR pad and currently only have a Wii U. I'm not really interested in using the pad to play Wii DDR games since that requires a hardware mod, but I am interested in trying to use the pad for the WiiStation PSX Wii emulator through vWii or the PSX emulator with Retroarch Aroma.

Mika, do you know if Wii emulators like Wiistation are able to use the Gamecube/Wii DDR pad when the pad is connected to a Gamecube to USB adapter on the Wii U? Would Retroarch Aroma work?
