I updated my Switch offline using ChoidujourNX. Everything was fine, but after i clicked on the reboot button, I wasn't able to boot the console normally. The Switch gives me only a black screen. I tried a lot of things to start it again, but it seems that I can only boot the switch using ReiNX and only if I select the official firmware (I tried with ReiNX alone, and ReiNX with LayeredFS, but nothing changes, even with the other options like Debug ecc.). So this is my situation. I don't know if it can help but I have an SX OS Pro, but the console wasn't on AutoRCM and I did not use it before or after the update. By the way, the Switch firmware is now 6.0.0, before the update it was at 5.0.1, so the update seems to have worked. Do you have some advice for solving this situation? Thanks.

i think ChoiDujourNX activates autorcm automatically, so you don't burn your fuses.
that why ChoiDujourNX made.
to make it possible to go back to lower firmware.

Sounds like AutoRCM is enabled.
Try putting the SDfiles on your SD card. Then boot using your SX Pro while holding VOL-
Select "load external payload", load hekate and load a CFW from there.

I tried booting the Switch with the SX, but it doesn't change nothing, the screen remains black.

Get TegraRcmGUI and inject a payload like briccme.bin, or get the hekate or reinx files on the SD and inject that payload.

In other words, you CAN’T boot your switch without RCM, because now the number of burnt fuses is inappropriate for your firmware version. This is why I think updating this way is stupid. It’s a PITA and completely useless, especially since you were above 3.x to begin with (rumors/hopes of coldboot CFW in the future for 3.x). Only reason someone has a valid excuse to update this way above 3.x is if you’re already banned and can’t update normally.

What the fuck? There is no problem with updating with Choijour if people would just be careful and properly read what to do.
What's negative about having the choice of going back? Rather then not?
Having the choice is always good. If you update this way how it's meant to be, then the fuse count will be ignored.
Tx users, may be not that informed about RCM and such, because it's often not relevant for their use case.
And now fiddleing with non Tx software could be a bit dangerous because such people don't take any precautions.

Just stick the most recent Boot.dat from TX on your SD card and use your sxpro to boot!

I don't see what the problem is here?

Ok, using briccme I was able to disable the autoRCM and booting the console normally. But now there is another problem, the console doesn't read my sd card, so I can't boot using the SX OS. I already formatted the sd card in exFAT as I read online somewhere, but this didn't resolve the problem. Any suggestions?

this is gbatemp: people have to learn to read before doing what they don't know

choidujournx automatically enables autorcm

if you don't want it enabled, just click on it before writing the new firmware

After updating again with the exFat support, everything was ok. And yes, to be safe I downloaded the latest versions of all the things I needed. I wanted to thank everyone for the help!

Watch your mouth. What's negative is the fact that until a coldboot method comes around to the public, autorcm makes your system unbootable without a tether, whether it be an android phone, PC or dongle. It's a pain. And you get threads like this. More than that, updating this way makes it impossible to boot without CFW. I am not banned and prefer to NOT be in CFW when visiting the eshop, thank you.

Hello OP, I made the same mistake as you when I updated to 7.0.0 on my Switch. Now all I get is a black screen. How were you able to use briccme to disable AutoRCM?

yall im torn... ive been hacking away at tales of phantasia GBA (the USA version) and have so many documents of reverse engineering i've done
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I just found out that the EU version is better in literally every way, better sound quality, better lighting, and there's even a patch someone made to make the text look nicer
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
Do I restart now using what i've learned on the EU version since it's a better overall experience? or do I continue with the US version since that is what ive been using, and if someone decides to play my hack, it would most likely be that version?
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
@TwoSpikedHands, I'll preface this with the fact that I know nothing about the game, but, I think it depends on what your goals are. Are you trying to make a definitive version of the game? You may want to refocus your efforts on the EU version then. Or, are you trying to make a better US version? In which case, the only way to make a better US version is to keep on plugging away at that one ;)
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
I'm not familiar with the technicalities of the differences between the two versions, but I'm wondering if at least some of those differences are things that you could port over to the US version in your patch without having to include copyrighted assets from the EU version
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
@Sicklyboy I am wanting to fully change the game and bend it to my will lol. I would like to eventually have the ability to add more characters, enemies, even have a completely different story if i wanted. I already have the ability to change the tilemaps in the US version, so I can basically make my own map and warp to it in game - so I'm pretty far into it!
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I really would like to make a hack that I would enjoy playing, and maybe other people would too. swapping to the EU version would also mean my US friends could not legally play it
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I am definitely considering porting over some of the EU features without using the actual ROM itself, tbh that would probably be the best way to go about it... but i'm sad that the voice acting is so.... not good on the US version. May not be a way around that though
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
    I appreciate the insight!
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
@TwoSpikedHands just switch, all the knowledge you learned still applies and most of the code and assets should be the same anyway
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
    and realistically they wouldn't

be able to play it legally anyway since they need a ROM and they probably don't have the means to dump it themselves
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
why the shit does the shitbox randomly insert newlines in my messages

It does that when I edit a post.

It inserts a newline in a random spot.
