Hi everyone,

My Switch stopped turning on overnight. I opened it up to take a look, and based on a misdiagnosis, I concluded that the MAX17050 chip was to blame. I removed it, but I still had a "pseudo" short circuit that turned out not to be one. I put the chip back, but since my reballing skills aren't great, I did a poor job. Eventually, I deduced that the NAND was the issue, so I re-flashed a new one and now the console boots.

However, the battery voltage readings became erratic. I only had four values: 0%, 50%, 100%, and 150%! I quickly realized this was because of the MAX17050. I removed it again and bought a new one that came pre-balled. I installed it, and now I can read the voltage much better. When I'm in Hekate, I can see the voltage increasing gradually while charging.

The issue now is that charging is capped at ~75% and never goes above that. Is it possible that the new MAX17050 is faulty again, or do I need to recalibrate it? The solder joints look good, and the fact that I can read the voltage accurately makes me feel that there are no software errors. (I’ve tested another battery and have the same issue).

Does anyone have any ideas?
