Switch 7.0 Downgrade to 6.2 tutorial

Update: Since Atmosphere has released with 7.0.X support, To downgrade without a backup, just use ChoidujourNX.
For those with backups you can still follow the method below

After seeing reports of downgrading back to 6.2 been broken after updating to switch firmware version 7.0, I can confirm these to be false. I successfully downgraded my switch with 9 burnt fuses on 7.0 to 6.2 with 9 burnt fuses

Downgrading to 6.2 is possible and not broken. Both boot0/boot1 must be the same version as nand backup

  • Step 1) Place 6.2 nand + boot0/1 backup on sd card
  • Step 2) Boot into RCM and launch hekate
  • Step 3) Restore boot 0/1
  • Step 4) Restore GPP Partitions (or rawnand, I personally used GPP Partitions)
  • Step 5) Launch CFW using Hekate 4.6 or ReiNX 2.0 or sxos (haven't tested with fusee-primary)
  • Step 6) ????
  • Step 7) Profit

EDIT: This is for FG consoles not ipatched
EDIT 2: You will loose any saves you don't have backed up

Will upload proof if people desperately wish

when restoring an ex-fat card is required... so backup your current sd card if it's the only one you have
not really needed I just moved my backup from linux to windows and used hacdiskmount to get the partitions and that way I restored only my nand's necesary partitions.
Thanks for replaying anyway :).

Alex, I'd say looking at the error it's likely to be an issue with the save folder in the SYSTEM partition. You could try backing up the system partition, then mounting the SYSTEM partition, delete everything in the save folder except 800.....120 and try rebooting. This may work although you'll loose all your saves and settings!

Although if this was the error you'd get a similiar message trying to boot stock from hekate.

Hey. Thank you so much. Now, all is working perfectly.

I mean for people who have rawnand.bin it is if they want to do it the easy way

Restore eMMC raw gpp = rawnand.bin, which can only be done with an exfat card

restore gpp partitions = partitions folders

For the second part, check the hekate download it should have the joiner scripts, basically you need to copy all your .bin.00-.bin.001 etc files into a singular file

Hi, I need some help. I am currently on 7.0 and I have a 6.2 backup rawandbin file in addition to boot 0/1. I tried to restore the files in Hakate , flashing the boot 0/1 first, which was successful, and then selected the rawandbin, which restored up to 55% and then crashed( tried it 3 times) with a fatal error regarding reading my SD card ( don't recall the exact language) I can still boot into Hakate, but my OFW is now broken. Has anyone else encountered this issue when trying to restore a backup? I transferred the restore files from my MAC to SD card if that matters at all. I have a 7.0 backup that I will flash later to see if that brings me back to normal. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Heads up 6.1 backups work as well, just tried mine for anyone who is wondering. Always forget the fuses, apologies if this is already known

Stupidly updated last night whilst tired and hit A to many times, lucky i had a 6.2.0 backup and restored it fine from 7.0.1 thanks for the quick guide! When 7.0.1 becomes supported how can i update without burning another fuse so i wont have to use RCM to get to stock?

7.0.0 and 7.0.1 both have a fuse count of 9, so if you've already burnt them. As for updating ChoidujourNX

hello fellows my question is if i can use another 6.2.0 backup from another console in order to downgrade another switch?

thanks Angel..another question how to get the proper keys.txt in order to make the manual downgrade with choi method and which keys do i need inside the keys.txt text editor in order to work!!

It seems like my switch is bricked now. I followed your tutorial, but it won't boot (cfw or normal mode).
Payload works, but no more.
