Switch 7.0 Downgrade to 6.2 tutorial

Update: Since Atmosphere has released with 7.0.X support, To downgrade without a backup, just use ChoidujourNX.
For those with backups you can still follow the method below

After seeing reports of downgrading back to 6.2 been broken after updating to switch firmware version 7.0, I can confirm these to be false. I successfully downgraded my switch with 9 burnt fuses on 7.0 to 6.2 with 9 burnt fuses

Downgrading to 6.2 is possible and not broken. Both boot0/boot1 must be the same version as nand backup

  • Step 1) Place 6.2 nand + boot0/1 backup on sd card
  • Step 2) Boot into RCM and launch hekate
  • Step 3) Restore boot 0/1
  • Step 4) Restore GPP Partitions (or rawnand, I personally used GPP Partitions)
  • Step 5) Launch CFW using Hekate 4.6 or ReiNX 2.0 or sxos (haven't tested with fusee-primary)
  • Step 6) ????
  • Step 7) Profit

EDIT: This is for FG consoles not ipatched
EDIT 2: You will loose any saves you don't have backed up

Will upload proof if people desperately wish

I'm not too sure. I checked the folder where my backup is nd the USER file isn't there, I don't think it saved.

It's not turning on. I'm quite sure it's a dead Switch.

I mean maybe you didn't have enough battery when restoring..it's possible and not necessarily a brick if it's just a black screen try connecting it to usb and see if you hear a sound indicating a connection

I had about 70% of battery on my Switch.
Boot 1/0 and everything else but USER was restored. USER couldn't be found as it wasn't in the folder, I'm not sure why.
I'm quite sure this is a hard brick.

not gonna pretend like I know but i'm currently restoring my backup and believe I read if the current fw doesn't match with backup fw you need to update to current fw (6.2 being the latest working cfw) with Nujudour...I hope I don't run into your problem but if I do I will be needing help too.

USER isn't essential, it just contains games, save data, user info and the like.

How do you use hekate to chainboot I was just using SX os previously. Is this a way to restore my 6.2 NAND using the other tool rather than SX OS ?

Have managed to restore the 7.0 NAND backup and resurrect the console but really want to go back down to 6.2.

my gf accidentally update to 7.0 and i dont have any backups. is there any safe way to get back to 6.2? how long does it normally take to get the newest firmware into cfw?

You let your GF use your Switch ? You should turn WIFI off and airplane on and you should have told her not to update it.

You dont have any backups ? Then you are screw! You will have to wait until 7.0 CFW is coming. Since 7.0 is already cracked. Next time, tell her not to update and turn wifi off/Airplane mode on.

I am glad that I dont let anybody touch mine. None.

I've kind of fixed my Switch, I formatted my SD card to FAT32 and I was able to access CFW but I can no longer have my Switch on without CFW.

Great tutorial! Worked for me only issue I'm having is it is unable to load reinx. It boots and goes black but I am able to boot with hekate.

Thank you so much! I accidentally updated (entirely my fault, no "my gerbil did it" excuse) and successfully followed the guide. My only problem is that none of my previously installed games show up now. In Goldleaf, my tickets all say "Unknown Title". Is there anything I can do to restore my games?

You need to do the old downgrade method using the original Choidujour (pc version) or wait for 7.0 support (soon)

so i have been doing the tutorial so far with one problem keys.txt! you would'ent you happen know a place you could point me in the right direction

Google switch master keys

If your fuses are burnt then you will need to wait for hekate/cfw to be updated to support 7.0 if you want both cfw and ofw

did you use the latest reinx.bin file?

Reinstall is the only thing sadly

Thanks again! I'll get to reinstalling. Do I delete the old games from the SD card, and, if so, where are they on the SD card?
