Tutorial  Updated

Switch 7.0 Downgrade to 6.2 tutorial

Update: Since Atmosphere has released with 7.0.X support, To downgrade without a backup, just use ChoidujourNX.
For those with backups you can still follow the method below

After seeing reports of downgrading back to 6.2 been broken after updating to switch firmware version 7.0, I can confirm these to be false. I successfully downgraded my switch with 9 burnt fuses on 7.0 to 6.2 with 9 burnt fuses

Downgrading to 6.2 is possible and not broken. Both boot0/boot1 must be the same version as nand backup

  • Step 1) Place 6.2 nand + boot0/1 backup on sd card
  • Step 2) Boot into RCM and launch hekate
  • Step 3) Restore boot 0/1
  • Step 4) Restore GPP Partitions (or rawnand, I personally used GPP Partitions)
  • Step 5) Launch CFW using Hekate 4.6 or ReiNX 2.0 or sxos (haven't tested with fusee-primary)
  • Step 6) ????
  • Step 7) Profit

EDIT: This is for FG consoles not ipatched
EDIT 2: You will loose any saves you don't have backed up

Will upload proof if people desperately wish

So I attempted downgrading from 7.0 to a 6.2 backup but when I launch cfw the screen just goes black. I've tried this several times to no success. I have a backup of 7.0 and I can load hekate 4.6, so I think I can just go back if I want but I was wondering why it's not working.

I have the reinx.bin file from 12/22/18. I am unsure if it has any relevance to my issue but I restored to 4.1 as I forgot to backup at 6.2

I swear everytime a new update comes out that breaks compatibility people somehow forget that restoring their NAND exists (and they also seem to forget that they shouldnt fucking update)

Hi,

Are you able to help I am new and struggling navigating the answers at the mo.
I updated to 7 in error when forced by updating a digital game I own booted OFW. Have NAND backup of 6.2 and also 7.0, restored backup of 6.2 but console would not boot (tried holding power still nothing). Restored the 7.0 backup and all back working with the correct fuse count.

Any help on getting back to 6.2 would be appreciated. I'm still learning so may not know all terminology at this point.

Thanks,

Hi sir. one of my friend'switch is about that:
he backup 6.1 rawnand.bin only (no boot0/1)
then update to 6.2 (no backup anything)
but he was so foolish.. then he restore the 6.1 rawnand.bin.
well, bule screen come.
I think now is that 6.2 boot0/1 but 6.1 nand system.
how can I fix it?

you are right,
boot0/1 - 6.2
nand - 6.1

So, you need to, flash boot 0/1 for 6.1 using the old downgrade method.

Old method

Follow until the end of step 8.3

You need to do the old downgrade method using the original Choidujour (pc version) or wait for 7.0 support (soon)
Reinstall is the only thing sadly

Messrs
give me a straight.ha console pure firmware 7.0.0.I would like to dump his nand but I do not know how to do.
if I understand correctly do I have to go back to previous versions using pure Choidujour method following this procedure? gbatemp.net/threads/choidujournx-a-system-firmware-installer-homebrew-for-the-nintendo-switch.513416/
or do I have to wait for future scenarios?
