Are you sure the link is safe? I just got a virus a few days ago and I don't want to do it again.Armadillo said:Yes it can be flashed. That firmware toolbox is out of date 4.8 is the latest I think and can be got from here

Guide for flashing http://www.360mods.net/index.php?name=Down...tails&id=61. Getting a bit out of date now , so some of the programs may of been updated by now , but should still cover you. Should be able to just pick and choose the bits you need (reading one drive , flashing another etc).
Spoofing , haven't seen any around , though it isn't really hard for a benq.
Just download firmware toolbox , load the firmware you intend to flash to the benq. Paste the drive key from the working 360 into the box and tell it to replace key , then just tools , spoof and pick the name of the broken drive. Jobs done , just have to flash it with the spoofed firmware.![]()
Not to much to worry about with a benq anyway. As long as you keep the drive key from the working 360 safe , then you're fine , you screw up and you can just try again. It's not like the Hitachis , where a screw up can brick the drive.
Also as it's a benq you're going to flash , you'll need a Via or Nforce Sata controller.

*Sigh* I guess I'll read it.Armadillo said:Can throw the guide out if you want. Once firmware is made and 360 is all hooked up , only have to use dosflash to erase the drive and then write your firmware (Instructions are in dosflash readme).
Yes , they do.

I dont know about the software used to flash the drive though
Nice. I just don't want to open my main computer in case something goes wrong.
Is there any cheaper card I can get?
QUOTE(playallday @ Dec 14 2008, 08:28 PM) If I leave half of the xbox 360 open and put a huge fan beside it will it help it to not get RRoD?

Then bye-bye xbox 360 when I fix it!Armadillo said:As for the rrod , I doubt leaving the case off and blowing it with a fan will help.

The broken drive is a Hitachi. I think its the v46. And the working drive is a BenQ.Armadillo said:Dosflash will definitely work on the 98 machine as you make a bootable dos floppy/usb stick to use it. Not sure if firmware toolbox will so you'll just have to try that. You never said what make the broken drive was , as if it's a samsung , no problem , dosflash can dump that for you to get the key from it. If it's a Hitachi , then I don't know if the program to dump that will work as the Hitachi is done from within windows.

Thanks! I'll try that when I get my Sata card.Armadillo said:Use firmware toolbox and get it to dump the hitachi. A guide comes with it that tells you how , you want the bit under "TUTORIAL FOR NEW INSTALLATIONS" , follow that , but use classic dump instead of raw , as raw won't work if it isn't accepting discs . Follow that up to the part where it opens the firmware (skip the bits about inserting disc , not needed in classic) , copy the key from that.
Then use firmware toolbox to open what ever firmware you are flashing to the benQ , paste the key in the box and tell it to replace key , then tools-> spoof firmware , pick hitachi v46 and then apply spoof. Firmware done , benq with the key from the hitachi and spoofed. Then just flash it to the benq using dosflash. (Detailed instructions come with dosflash).
Just to make sure though as it's been a while the hitachi is the broken drive from the good box , and the benq is the good drive from the rrod one?.Also not really needed if the benQ is from the rrod , but it wouldn't hurt to backup it's firmware , that way you have the key if you ever revive the rrod one.

Wait, I do that if I want to flash it or is that a must?Armadillo said:Then use firmware toolbox to open what ever firmware you are flashing to the benQ , paste the key in the box and tell it to replace key , then tools-> spoof firmware , pick hitachi v46 and then apply spoof.
