Tormented Souls, an upcoming survival horror game from PQube, Dual Effect and Abstract Digital Works, is not shy of its inspiration of classic Resident Evil and Silent Hill games. In fact, it is betting on gameplay designs of such titles that made them spine-chilling like a fixed camera perspective and limited resources, including the saving procedure. You'll play as Caroline Walker who, while investigating the disappearance of missing twin girls, ends up in Winterlake. There she brutally discovers that the abandoned mansion-turned-hospital is now home to disturbing practices and dark forces. Tormented Souls' launch date was announced today and a new trailer was released to accompany the announcement:

• Welcome to Winterlake - Lead to the small, isolated town of Winterlake, something terrible happens to Caroline Walker. Waking in the dead of night, naked and alone, hooked up to decrepit medical equipment, Caroline must fight for her life as she explores the halls of the abandoned mansion. As the previous inhabitants run amuck, you must scavenge essential resources and tools to decipher clues and create a variety of weapons to protect yourself from the darkness within.
• Keep Your Wits About You - Nothing is quite as it seems in Winterlake. Cleverly combine items and scour your surroundings for clues as you face cryptic and unusual puzzles throughout the grounds of the mansion. Mirrors provide a gateway to another place and time – investigate even the seemingly mundane to discover ways to manipulate the very fabric of reality and seek your escape.
• You are Never Alone in the Dark - The mansion may seem stark and abandoned, but the deeper you venture, the more overwhelming the horrors within become. From terrifying, wheelchair-bound atrocities to vile disembowelled crawlers prowling the halls, these tormented medical monsters aren’t the only threats that Caroline must face. There are also darker threats at play – quite literally. Early on, you are warned not to let the shadows embrace you…

Tormented Souls launches on PS5, XBS X/S and Steam on Friday, Aug. 27 for $19.99. A PS5 physical version will also be available while PS4, XB1 and Switch versions will be available at a later date. Those interested in the game can experience its first 40 minutes with the demo available on PS5 and Steam.

Hmmm played so many horror games this year most of them dull & predictable ... Resi Evil Village was great ..Maid of Sker was a decent attempt .... but most others was mediocre ... . we shall see
Hoping for The Evil Within 3 .. or a new Silent Hill its been a while ...

The game is $20 so I'm expecting it to be like an indie level game. I like games like resident evil if it isn't like that idk.

Evil within was pretty good too so games like that.

After playing the demo, I will certainly be playing the entire game. About the only thing really bad is the voice acting, but that might be intentional. The subtitles are also sometimes different than what is being said & the inventory system could use a bit of work... but other than those things I had fun playing the demo.

Played the demo and absolutely loved it. As @D34DL1N3R said, the voice acting is awful, and also the characters look really bad, but the environments look great and the feel of the game is great. Love the item interactions and puzzles. Really looking forward to the release.
