Hello everyone, for those who are not already aware of it, the Super Mario Odyssey Online Mod (by CraftyBoss) has been released a few days ago.

I downloaded version 1.0, server.exe etc, I read it works on SMO 1.0 so I want to downgrade my SMO 1.3.0 to 1.0 and so far no problem.

Now I install the mod and notice a folder called "atmosphere" containing 2 folders inside "contents" and "exefs_patches".

The installation guide just says drag and drop to the root of the sdcard, but I've always used "Simple Mod Manager" to manage my mods.

In the mod there is a folder called "atmosphere" so they have 2 folders inside:

"contents" = Contains the "romfs" and "exefs" folders. (and I know how to install them in the mod manager)

"exefs_patches" = Contains a subfolder named "StarlightBase" with a * .ips file inside. (and honestly here I don't know if I have to use the same procedure as romfs and exefs or install everything manually)

THE PROBLEM:

I could install the mod directly into my atmosphere directory, no problem, but as mentioned above I would like to use SimpleModManager.

Previously I loaded mod romfs and exefs without any problem for the "contents" folder but for the "exefs_patches" folder I don't know what to do.

Do I have to install directly into amosphere or is there a way to load everything with SimpleModManager?

I hope I have explained myself correctly.

I also apologize for the repetitions but I tried to be as clear and explanatory as possible.

I await your welcome reply!

Thanks in advance :bow::grog:

You are thinking too hard and making things harder than they need to be. Drop the two folders (contents and exefs_patches) into your /atmosphere/ directory or simply unzip the file at the top level of yiur SDCard and allow it to “overwrite” /atmosphere. It really is that simple.

E: I see you were just editing. Tutti bene! :-)

e3: don’t do this. See my response below for proper way to do this.
E2: To make a mod that SMM can manage you should be able just put these folders in /mods/SMO/StarlightBase/*

  • Tree structure : /mods/<NameOfTheGame>/<NameOfTheMod>/<ModTreeStructureFromAtmosphereFolder>
E3: My son is playing on my Switch right now but as soon as he is done playing I will test this on my Switch to be sure.

Hi guys :)
I also follow this thread because I'm looking for exactly a way to use this mod with the simple mod manager!
If I'm not misunderstanding should I enable the mod as if they were two mods?
So (for example) the "contents" folders with romfs and exefs go to:

/mods/SMO/SMO_Online_MP/contents/0100000000010000/romfs

/mods/SMO/SMO_Online_MP/contents/0100000000010000/exefs

And the ips file goes to:

/mods/SMO/StarlightBase/exefs_patches/3CA12DFAAF9C82DA064D1698DF79CDA1.ips

So then from SMM will I have to activate them both?

Lemme know im doing right

Thanks !!

Hey man, that was just an example.

Here’s what I actually did to get it to work with Simple Mod Manager

Under /mods I created Super Mario Odyssey directory. I already had one because I have the Super Luigi Odyssey mod as well.

Under /mods/Super Mario Odyssey/ directory I created CraftyBoss directory. You might want to call it Online, or something else that makes sense to you. It doesn’t matter.

I placed contents and exefs_patches directories from the download into the CraftyBoss directory just like this.

I was able to enable the CraftyBoss mod using Simple Mod Manager. Since it also does exefs patching I rebooted my switch.

e: I am going to check if it will remove the exefs patch using SMM…not 100% sure it will.

e2: good news! SMM does in fact track the exefs_patches properly and removes it through the interface as expected. Enjoy!

Thanks so much bro! You are great!
Perfect explanation in detail!

Thanks again brother!

I'll try it now and I'll give updates

(P.S. I know Aviano (PN), I'm from Milan, if you come to my part I'll gladly offer you a beer). :grog:

I had an issue where i couldnt join a server even though my online settings are enabled and the server ipv4 and port are all correct. But in the server list it says that im not on the server and the same thing in the debug menu. Also i made sure that i was on the right version, also for context im using ryujinx for this and it just doesnt connect no matter what i do.
