Hi everyone,
I've just created a very homemade mod that lets you get a completely black frame (hide background) in games from the Nintendo online shop.

I simply modified the NSP’s romfs folder by editing the images and the translation files to also hide the avatar icon and the “P1” label in the various languages.
So far I’ve only tested it on Nintendo 64 Classic, but I think the same can be done for the apps of the other consoles.
I’m not enough skilled to create a MOD that can be uploaded to various sites for easier installation.

For now, to install the mod on N64 Classic just copy the folder “0100C9A00ECE6000” into “/atmosphere/contents”.
You'll find the zip file attached.

Enjoy!

Thank you for your effort but this is something this mod has already been doing for years:

thank you so much, illando.

(I'm still trying to understand Nintendo's logic with this stupid background / P1 icon, which is a really bad idea for OLED TV owners)

XenoFredo, the more options we have, the better it is for hack scene, no ? With this, no need to patch NSP, much easier than using Cave Databse Manager IMHO.
Even if this tool already does the job for years, it doesn't mean anyone can't do it an other way (like this patch) :grog:

That one is behind a patreon wall so alternatives are always welcome, especially when they free!

Anyway to add custom images like below...2026021317345500.jpg2026021317355800.jpg

It's not, you can download it right here: http://darkakuma.z-net.us/p/cave-database-manager-v15.html#download

And it includes the ability to hide the background and player's icon.
I know about CaVE Database Manager, but it requires a PC running windows (that I don't have) . It supports a lot of features, even more advanced ones, but I’m not interested in them. I just want to have a total black background.

So I decided to come up with a much more basic and simple solution, and I shared it here in the hope that someone can turn it into a mod to upload on GameBanana (or similar sites), so that it can be easily installed (using only a Switch) with SimpleModDownloader or other similar homebrew apps.
