Hi all

What firmware do we think will be needed for SMM2? I'm on 7.0 at the moment and wanted your opinion if I should update to 8.1 in readiness for it?

Nintendo could release a day-1 update forcing the use of the 8.1.0 firmware though.

So the minimum firmware version required is 8.0.1 for the initial release (not the potential day-1 update)?

Just create an emunand and update that (use emunand with Atmosphere or SXOS) - keep your O/F on 7.0.

No. While the game "requires" 8.0.1, it looks like it will only require 7.0.0 if it's patched correctly. However, there's no real reason not to update to 8.1.0. Newer games and updates will require 8.1.0 eventually.

should a person update to the latest firmware, and then install CFW ?

Are you saying you've never used CFW before? Before you do anything, you need to make sure the Switch is unpatched. If the Switch is unpatched and you've never used CFW before, then it's okay to update normally (if you don't care about downgrading later). If you do care about downgrading in the future, then you can update using ChoiDujourNX without burning your fuses.

I have ordered an unpatched switch

I plan to put NSPs on it but read that some don't work on some firmware versions
