Gaming Suikoden WiFi help

I'm having a problem with the WiFi part of Suikoden for the DS. I can hire people and keep them just fine, but when I send a character out, the return as soon as I leave the castle and it says the mission didn't go well and I get 50 potch

Anyone know how to use the send part properly?
