I’ve finally gotten around to fixing my old Switch thanks to this video: https://sthetix.info/tutorial/nintendo-switch/unbricking-the-nintendo-switch-by-rebuilding-the-nand, but I’ve encountered a problem with the SAFE file on HacDiskMount. I followed the instructions to mount it, only to come up with the error “You need to format the disk in drive [insert letter here] before you can use it” when I already know not to do so. However, as a result, it won’t let me access the mounted drive, and I haven’t found any answers on how to get around this problem. I just can’t seem to continue unless someone actually knows how to solve this.

Note: I know I already posted this somewhere else, but this thread seems to fit my question better.

Please don't bump the thread. You could ask maybe Reswitched on their discord if they know why?

Okay, I just thought I should have done more than a simple bump and seriously ask if anyone had this problem, but I’ll take a look there.

Did you ever figure this out?

Sort of. It was actually for the SAFE section, which according to the video, was supposed to be empty, and the formatting only applied to that part. Either way, after going through the whole video and following all the steps, my Switch still won't start past the Nintendo logo, even after the troubleshooting part. I don't know what's still wrong. I remember the mess starting back in October 2018 when tried restoring BOOT0 and BOOT1 when the firmware didn't match.

Okay, after looking at another guide, I think I may have bricked it after all by formatting the SAFE file, but it looked like it didn't work beforehand. Is there any way to get it fixed? I still have a NAND backup.

Can you check if your partition check out? i.e. input your BIS key and check if entropy fail or success.

This will tell us if it is the partition or misplaced files.
