Hacking Steps of installing latest RXTools

Soo, my new SD card is arriving today, and i was wondering what i should do.

Currently im using RxTools 2.6, but i was thinking of going 3.0. Any advantages/disadvantages? Are they compatible?

> Put Gateway launcher on SD
> Install EmuNAND
> Make Rxtools 3.0 Launcher dat
> Replace it with Gateway launcher
> Once its all working, extract old EmuNAND from old SD
> Import it on the new SD

Is this the right approach?

You dont have to format Emunand anew.
Just replace the rxTools folder on your SD card. In 2.6 you had the firmware.bin in the root of your SD card, afaik this has changed for all version 2.6< by either: Putting the firmware.bin into rxTools/sys or the firmware.bin being replaced by a folder firm that has to be put into rxTools/sys (check out the description in the nightly build you want to use).
Also the browser adress to launch rxTools changed in version 2.6< from launch.rxtools.net to https://dukesrg.github.io/?rxTools/sys/code.bin

I'm guessing it's more stable? Also, if you get a firm folder don't place it to rxTools/sys but directly in your rxTools folder And there is no need to create any rxTools launcher.dat file, it's only used to start the gateway menu.

I use an 4GB SD with 2.6 RxTools on it. It had latest emuNAND. i want to transfer my emuNAND to my new 32Gb SD.

Okay, then yes, you have to format emuNand on your new SD card.

Best you follow the steps here:

Moving Games, Saves, Themes, and Emunand to a new SD card

1. Get Emunand Tool
2. Insert your old SD card in your PC
3. Open Emunand Tool and select "Extract EmuNAND"
4. Save it somewhere on your PC (as "emunand.bin" if you want)
5. Backup all your SD card files to your PC
6. Eject your old SD card
7. Put Gateway's launcher.dat on your new SD card
8. Format emunand on your new SD card via the gateway menu
9. Turn off your 3DS
10. Insert your new SD card in your PC
11. Open Emunand Tool and select "Inject NAND to emuNAND"
12. Select the emunand.bin you made in step 3 & 4
13. Close Emunand Tool when done
14. Put backup of SD card files (from step 5) on your new SD card
15. Done, emunand and files (saves, games, etc.) have been transferred to your new SD card!

If i do this, can i just copy my RX folder with it?

If you do all these steps and in the end just copy all of the contents of your old SD Card on your new SD card it should work just fine (I did this myself not too long ago).

After that you can update rxTools to 3.0, if you want.
If you just want it to work, you can stop right here and dont bother.
