Have you got Waninkoko's cIOS or WiiGator's? Waninkoko's has a few extra ninja functions that are needed for some programs ...

One can take it and easily turn it into a bricking machine with intent or no intent and that doesn't need the skills of a programmer...

I disagree, most strongly.

The whole point of the F/OSS movement is that you have the freedom to review/modify the code.
This doesn't mean that every bsd/linux user will be hacking their kernel but some of them can, and do, make improvements.

If the code is kept locked in ivory towers and only viewed by a "blessed" few, what is the point of homebrew?
Would you prefer that all homebrew is limited to a basic interpreter so the less-skilled users can't break their machine?

You don't need to e a programmer to write a bricking app from scratch.
You can just write zeroes to the NAND or delete important files with the sources which are already out there.

Thanks for this Aquilino - great work. Update blocking was all that was holding me back from installing 4.0 and now you've solved the problem.
Nice and quick too.

Is there any way to take these patches off?

yes, read the first post properly - it tells you A to install a patch B to remove it....

Ok that's the "with intent" part... Someone foolish enough can do that unintended... that's far worse

I'm so confused, so if I run this on a version 4.0E, with a modchip inside I can load the patch to not look for updates on the disk on?

You will still see the health screen, but you'll notice that it automatically passes (and quickly). It isn't like the Starfall hack that replaces the health menu with the back menu.

I installed this yesterday on my PAL system . The update from disc blocker works and the warningscreen hack works , but the regionfree channels feature dont work. They installed fine both of them , but all my ntsc wiiware\vc gives me the "this app can not be loaded" error . usual region error .

Any fixes on the horizon?

If you get that error when launching from SD, it might be that your IOS60 doesn't allow for trucha signed channels. Have you tried running them directly from NAND?
