anyone know if it would be possible to force VC games to work under 480P? there must be some soft of hack for that

Go into the Operations Guide for said game, and with a nunchuck attached, press Z + A + 2 simultaneously. You'll hear a chime. You should only have to do this once (it should apply to all other VC games).
this is a joke... right?

i've tried it, and it doesn't work. oh, i feel like such a fool for even trying it.
in the unlikely event that i haven't been had, where did you hear of this trick?

This is a temporary fix to problems with various Virtual Console games being played over component cable on HDTVs. The mode can be enabled by accessing the operations guide of the game, and (with the Nunchuk attached) pressing the buttons Z + A + 2 simultaneously. A sound is played if the mode is enabled correctly.
A quick google search will find posts on many forums, and digg. I however have never tried and cannot confirm.

It's probably something you're doing wrong, then.

Do you even have a component/s-video connection to your Wii?

You can't get progressive scan from composite.

the Z A 2 trick is for PAL only systems...

Initially, some PAL Virtual Console games would not display correctly on high-definition televisions when connected via the component lead. However, starting with the April 13, 2007 update of the PAL Virtual Console, certain newly added games, such as Punch-Out!!, support the "Wii Component Cable Interlace mode." The mode can be disabled by using the same method, but with the button combination Z + A + 1 instead.

Is there any way I can make Trauma Center New Blood work on my PAL Wii without it being black and white?

O RLY?

You guys should seriously LURK MOAR...

I've had this problem with the 1st Neo Geo game I purchased off of their VC store, and the last time I checked, I live in the US, and the last time I checked, we use NTSC. US = NTSC != PAL

Tell that to my NTSC Wii.

if this does work on a PAL wii, does that mean it can make games play in 60Hz (cos progressive scan seems to always be 60Hz)? and if that's possible, what about 60Hz interlaced?

You have to buy yourself new modchip. Or just go back to JAP

nevermind, apparently my HBC completely suicided. for some fucked up reason, if I try to launch it with an sdcard with ANY apps on it, it code dumps. tried several sdcards to no avail too.
