I've bought four games withing the last week, three on switch (I've had my account preloaded with money for a while in preparation, didn't expect them all to land in same week) and the other being cuphead on pc.
Same, just got Axiom Verge and Stardew Valley. Got Golf Story and Cuphead a couple days ago. Gotta put in for my Odyssey pre-order soon too.

Would you all suggest for someone worried about enjoying this game maybe watch some dude do some sort of like 30-60min straight play from the start to see if it would be a good fit?

I've tried over the years the SNES, N64 and one portable version of Harvest Moon and chronically suck at it. I can't get a damn thing to grow even reading a guide which is amazing to me, or if I do, it's never enough or I miss having it picked up on time and end up never making enough dough to survive. I like the premise entirely but my results have been grating. I've read this is HM strong but also with flavors of terraria and animal crossing so it caught my eye.

Sure, everybody is gonna want to play it their own way though. The interesting thing about this game is that it's not all about the farming, in fact you can do zero farming if you want to. Combat/mining, fishing, or just socializing are all their own activities in this game, and you can focus on any of them to earn money. OTOH, the farming isn't hard at all. As long as you till the soil, drop seeds, and water once a day, 90% of what you plant will grow as intended. Other than that it's just about clearing out space and laying things out as you please.

Like I said, Harvest Moon x Animal Crossing (which is kinda what Friends of Mineral Town was I guess). The game gives you a ton of freedom, but it also has a day/night cycle, so what you can do and when is limited ofc.

Last edited by Xzi,
I feel like the characters in this game are just a tad weaker than in other Harvest Moon/Rune Factory games, but as a breakout indie hit, it's worth every penny of the $15 price tag. I've put 100 hours into it on the steam version, and I'm highly tempted to double down on a portable version. Very calming game, with a lot of stuff to do in it. At this point, though, I feel a bit hesitant to buy again, purely because most of the things on the Switch that I want, I've already played on PC.

Alright I follow, now I'm actually fairly more interested. It seems to be more of a flavor of harvest moon but as much more a terraria/sims home/land/relationship builder with aspects you'd expect from a zelda/shining soul gba style actionrpg as well. That could be a really sweet hybrid style to get into.

Man this game is amazing on the switch.

I have encountered one issue though. Occasionally the audio compression goes insane and the right channel gets super fuzzy sounds like a blown speaker.

Maybe tweet the developer (ConcernedApe) if you have twitter, I believe they're pretty responsive.

Lots of audio glitches and the load time for saving is atrocious. Otherwise this is a solid port, and playing it with a controller isn't nearly as clunky as I assumed it would be. I found a glitch with the game thanks to another user's thread on here to get infinite money, and it's kinda fun messing around with that.
