You need the Launcher (V2)
The Hacked MAPS. There's a map-pack out there.
The AI replaces one of the three MOD folders in the SC II Directory.(The AI is the crack).

Then you load the launcher, select a map and you should progress to a mostly pink screen with a yellow construction-bar loader, when the construction tape bar gets to 100% the game will start. (Random Race).

I just played a game of Terran vs Zerg (V4.0). Periodic Rushes seemed to happen, (not effective ones mind you) (Siege Tanks *cough*) 4.0 was pretty good, but it's pretty much confirmed that the AI doesn't really know how to launch specific counter attacks. They did, however, expand and kept trying to get through my siege tank wall (to no avail).

Edit...I was focusing on one of my resource bases and the protoss AI sent over a course of time 5-6 carriers over... -____-

Just played my first match of this. TvZ. using the 5.5 noncheating AI. the zerg aren't as polished yet, they rush but its hit and run after you get a sizable amount of units. and then after awhile it wasn't even attempted attack, it was get close enough to get attacked and then run back. after that i just sent whatever i had on defense and decimated them *cough*seige tanks*cough*

The best way to beat the AI's seems to be w/ an Early-Game rush (Right after their first rush) that way you can hinder their expansion and destroy key upgrade buildings. (The computers don't build defense) or detectors for that matter...But they do SCAN sometimes.

Yeah, this computer gets brickwalled by supply-depot/barrack/tanks/bunkers incredibly easily. It's pretty hard to counter their EG Carrier/Mutalisk/Battlecruiser mass...(Correct me if I'm wrong, but carriers get 4 interceptrs that attack two targets?) (as opposed to 8 interceptors?) aka 4 PAIRS?

Holy shit theres a SC2 Beta?! where?! gimme

Ah so im guessing you can get the beta un-legitly?

No, they DO come with 4 interceptors now, but can build 4 more in addition, with no capacity upgrade required.

Looks like macro/micro has gotten so easy. The depth of play just got deeper.

Too bad I couldn't get into the beta legitimately; there is no Mac beta...

The latest StarCrack AI, 5.5, is okay, but still buggy. Goosie's "not easy" AI seems better.

About the game, it seems like more of the same. Which is great. Everything got harder and easier. You can play at the same level as pros in SC with SC2 rather easily. Macroing is so damn easy, with multiple building selections and infinite (or close to) selection limit. Zergling rushes were never this easy to carry out. I do suspect that some will complain that having a group of hellions and siege tanks, the helions don't slow to tank speed. Well, at least they retained that "movement micro" as I like to call it. Units also don't piss-line as much.
The changes in gameplay are fantastic, but I am so sad to see some of my favourite units disappear. The vulture and its spider mines were wonderfully fun. The arbitor was also awesome with its insanely useful abilities. I would list more, but there's no point.
Now, the new units are also very fun. The hellion is vulture with a frackin' flamethrower. Torching zerg has never been this cool with the firebat. The Mothership is plain badass, abeit nerfed to submission. And so on.

Damn, I'm gonna preorder this game. It's gonna last us for over a decade, eh?

I'm still having a hard time grasping what units have what abilities...Of the abilities that I've used, I've really liked the protoss Stalkers blink ability as well as the sentries protective one. (Stalkers being the new dragoons)(they can teleport / 10s with blink) (short distances).

There were a lot of modifications (whenever a unit or building finishes you get a notification on the left-center) for example. Ghosts/Nuking all takes place at the Ghost Academy...The Mule Unit from the Commander Center is a useful unit, the assault-CC not so much? Marauders are pretty good vs tanks too (firebat equivalent / rocketpack with stun/slow). Upgraded helions do Really nice vs infantry as well, though not so much against marauders (heavy infantry).

I'm kinda sad that protoss lack an AoE unit like a reaver.. or something, anyway off to play a game.

Wait, so does this beta have all of the units and buildings and races fully available? just not campaign/multiplayer/online?

you need a b.net account tied to a blizzard game and "register your interest" by letting them check your system specs. through that you may get lucky and get chosen.

otherwise you had to go to certain conventions and buy a pack(?) that had a beta invite.

im sure i can find a tutorial floating around the net with the client and loader..
Is that what you guys did yea?

EDIT: err nvm..
