Hey, I've been searching a lot about this issue, but i couldnt find any info.

I jumped into CBHC after trying to play Zelda Breath of Wild with SD-loadiine (and getting those huge loading times) , I followed ur guides and read a lot ( ty!) and now im playing it correctly, using a 16gb usb while i get a proper hard drive.

But here is my question, will loading times remain playable using a HDD (i was thinking on a 2.5" HDD with a Y cable as i have one sparedrive at home) or will it go better if i use an SSD drive / high capacity USB ? Considering that 128gb are enough for me... any of the options its affordable.

Did anyone do any comparision about this thing?

I still also miss a "compatible HDDs/USBs thread :P)

There won't be a big difference between HDD and SSD. The WiiU has only USB2.0.

I'm using a Micro SDXC (with an 2usb Adapter) (128GB is for me enough too) but loading times were shorter with a HDD (a good game to compare loading times is SSB).

Thtas a great point i was ignrant about, considering this, there shouldnt be any difference between hdd or usb (Apart from "noise")

Does a 2.5" HDD with Y cable works well? i've heard that externar power input goes better but dunnow if its really that important

Ty for the replies dudes. :)

I had no problems with an y-cable.

But I use a LAN-Adapter so I just have 1 empty USB slot, that's why I took the µSD2USB "Method". (The 2 in the front are for my GC Adapter(s) )

And you can ignore the HDD noise, the fan of the console is louder ;) :D

Hmm for me it's the opposite I hardly hear the fan but the hdd makes a bit of noise lol.
