I installed this game from Steam, installed the mods here to fix the volumetric shadows, v-sync, widescreen and the FOV as listed here:

https://pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/Tom_Clancy%27s_Splinter_Cell#Use_dgVoodoo2_with_default_buffer_shadows

However, upon loading the game, it shows the Ubisoft logo fine, but once I get past the, it crashes with a "general fault" error. No details, tried reverifying the cache integrity, restoring the old config files, nothing. I'm not sure what to do, this is starting to really get on my nerves and Google searches yield nothing helpfui. What should I do, what can I do to get it running?

CPU - Core i7 4770
GPU - eVGA NVidia GTX 960
OS - Windows 10 64-bit Home

Used to work a couple of months ago on the same machine, not sure what happened:unsure:

Sometimes it will crash, sometimes it will crash with the generic error, nothing helpful regarding what kind of error only makes it worse. What doesn't make sense, is that using dgVoodoo2 with Pandora tomorrow, even the same widescreen hack, game runs perfectly. So I know it can't be dgVoodoo2 at fault. :hateit:

I hate to be that guy, but have you tried looking on the steam forums for this game? Many times when things are broken on Steam, that’s the first place anyone looks.

I did, and no one replied. Apparently many of the files failed cache integrity, so I was forced to reinstall the game. It seems to be quite fragile on later OSes
