Gaming Splatoon 2 Sound Issues in docked mode

When I dock my Switch, I can't hear the sounds when I shoot or super-jump. I was pretty sure that I had some problems with the speakers that I have, but I wanted to ask just to be sure.
EDIT: I actually can hear the shooting noises, but they are VERY faint.

Works absolutely fine for me, do you have a spacial surround mode enabled or anything?

I used to have a 5.1 and it player the front sounds out of 2 speakers and nothing out the rear.... which was weird. Use a sound bar and sub now.

I have a 2.1.

My Switch is hooked up to my monitor (which doesn't have speakers) and the monitor's headphone output is hooked up to my 2.1.

Oh, and it's not a direct connection. I have an HDMI switch (a 5to1, ordered from ebay, works perfectly) too, since my monitor only has one HDMI input.

test with other switch games, there are demos if you don't own any others
