Spike Chunsoft to do monthly Danganronpa news reveals starting this May

AHtoKo4.png

The first Danganronpa game released in 2010 in Japan, making the series a decade old, as of this year. To celebrate that fact, developer Spike Chunsoft will be hosting franchise-related broadcasts, revealing new information each month, starting in May, claiming "In 2020, Danganronpa will be more active than ever. Please look forward to it". The streams will showcase new projects revolving around the Danganronpa series, such as new merchandise, collaborations, and games, according to the initial announcement. We're due to get a better idea of what can be expected from these streams during the Dengeki Game Awards 2019, which will be hosted online on April 18th.

Unexpected positive news is always good. I had no idea the series had been around that long.

(off topic, but that bear's evil eye always makes me think of Batman beyond)

After playing AI Somnium Files, It’s gonna be hard for any visual novel games to top that. however more VNs is always a welcome sight

I hope the director ( or was it an writer?) Comes back (c'mon jappanesse names are hard to remember) because i don't know if they can do danganronpa without him.
Kodaka started his own company with the Zero Escape guy, but I have no doubt that they'll still contract work from Spike Chunsoft. I don't see them being exclusive.

While I'd like DRVR, UDG2 could be cool.

Meh imo the end of V3 was perfect as an end of a saga (even if yes, it let the possibility to do more games in the V3 universe, but I don't know, it would feel weird after that ending) so I don't really know what to think about that

AI is better than Danganronpa? What made AI superior?
Personal preference. Danganronpa was my fave VN game series but the 4th wall breaking isn’t doing it for me. Maybe Danganronpa wins in music, but I love the story, characters and the protagonist more in AI. Doesn’t mean I hate the game of course, will definitely buy more Danganronpa. I just don’t think it’ll top AI imo.

YES. I cannot wait to see what’s coming. I doubt Kodaka will come back, less because he has his own company and more because V3 felt like his goodbye to the franchise, but I’d love to see another writer’s take on Danganronpa. iirc around the time Kodaka founded his new company he gave his blessing for Spike to let someone else take a crack at the franchise.

This'll be interesting. Personally, I'd like all the Danganronpa games (including ultra despair girls) bundled up into one package and ported to platforms like the Switch and a new mainline game too.
