But would it have been the second best selling console without the security flaw? I bought just because of that. And 5 more lol.
I only didn't buy one because I could emulate everything on my PC at higher framerates and resolutions. So no, they would have sold tens of millions more of them but for the security flaw. And the lack of such a flaw is why I bought a Switch 2 (my first Switch) last week when Walmart had them for $50 off.

I wouldn't expect a hardware exploit (anything is possible though). The Wii and WiiU were software modded.
The Wii was hardware exploited first and only later softmodded.

Has there been any word about modchips for them yet? Or what is the reasons for not? Did BigN hide the norm modchip connection spots on the new mobo?

The Switch 2 has a dual core lockstep, so voltage glitches are highly unlikely.

And not only that, but it has a security chip (like Apple's security chip on their phones) called NVRISCV, which is undocumented, so no information on how it works.

That comment took me back I got the WiiKey fitted soon as I bought the Wii and it’s still got the sticker on the bottom of the Wii. I also own a Beta copy of the WiikeyU that was meant to be released and it still works

Any new about the Switch 2 hacking? Nothing after half a year?
Basically nothing past a few random discoveries that.... well if anything made the process more difficult. Namely the system does use TME (Total Memory Encryption). But past that we basically have nothing and zero signs of anything.

Just checked this thread after a while, and wow, the situation really seems to be fucked. Fully encrypted RAM? A security chip that's basically a massive black box? Damn...

And an OS that (at least the current build) is completely free of kernel exploits. Numerous ways to get ace but no way to compromise kernel.

Until some European user seeks the exploit, there by law Nintendo cannot brick the devices
you're misinterpreting lmao, the consoles were bricked soldering onto the memory chip... You're insinuating nintendo bricked it, which is not the case, tampering with the hardware and shorting did it.

and that was one of the first few attempts, attempts to create an interface to sniff memory revealed the memory is encrypted.

and only recently has that attempt resulted in being able to interpret what data is in memory (despite being encrypted)

Although that image is half a year ago, it makes me feel very happy seeing that level of investigation around the Switch 2 scene.

Why is he monitoring his Switch 2's heartrate? Is it sick?
