Im happy, fixed a major issue, now working on the Rei string bug amongst other things, and waiting on @SkyDX for splash ideas i guess, lol.

Thanks, keep up the great work. Everything's been working perfectly since your initial 10.3-compatible release.

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

On the topic of firmware.bin, I'm wondering if its legal if i just CBC encrypt the firmware.bin with my own key and decrypt it during run time.. technically the random junk in the encrypted bin cant be 'copyright'

Probably best to just publish an md5sum and let users find it on their own. Best not to put yourself in the line of fire.

I have rxtools, how to switch to reinand on new 3ds?
Download the latest commit complied build (build it if you know how to). Replace the rxTools folder with inside the new compiled build and add the correct firmware.bin to Rei folder.

Use hax 2.5, mset or whatever mean you prefer to boot reinand CFW

So just to confirm then, the clean cia version of Story of Seasons did not work on the original 10.3 build, and did work on my build?

Guessing it went to a black screen? Not even the 3ds logo?

Yes, and no, it showed 3ds logo but then just stayed on black screen, tried a few times but was same, soon as I updated rei it worked

Ah ok.

What I was looking for was for the game to hang on the 3ds logo. If it did that then it would mean we needed the 10.0 kernel/firmware.bin, not the 9.6 one we are using now. And if we needed the 10.0 one, Rei might as well just use the latest (10.2) revision. Since it got past the 3ds logo it means one of two things. Either the exheader for Story of Seasons checks for an older revision of the kernel (likely since the original game came out on the US with 8.1), or it only checks the major and minor version numbers and not the revision number.

Tbh I don't think we can be certain until another game comes out that we KNOW checks for the kernel. I may download Story of Seasons ;myself and unpack it to check the exheader later.

Btw the reason the game didnt work on the old build but did on mine is because of a bug in the arm9 thread code, specifically the code that handles the version string replacement. I fixed this on my builds.

So your contribution to the forum is being the class tattle tale.
Good to know.
it's against the forum rules to share it. it's less being a tattle tale and more of "that's illegal". https://gbatemp.net/help/terms
"Warez" - ROMs, WADs & ISOs

"Warez" is an internet term used to describe copyrighted software, game, film, music and data piracy.
  • We DO NOT HOST or PROVIDE ROMs/WADs/ISOs; or link to websites that do contain ROMs/WADs/ISOs.
  • Members may NOT ASK and MAY NOT PROVIDE INFORMATION or LINKS for and to places that provide ROM, WAD, and ISO files.

  • We do not condone piracy in any way.
  • Please go elsewhere if you only wish to download or share illegal files. The GBAtemp Forums are for discussion ONLY.
These rules also apply to other "warez" too, not just ROM, WAD and ISO files; this includes (but is NOT limited to) - licensed and copyrighted software, code, movies, music, video games, magazines, comics, e-books, television shows, illegal torrents, etc. These rules also account for "keygens" and "cracks" including how to obtain, apply or install them.

Those are the most frequently broken rules, and are the most important. Failure to comply with these rules may result in an instant ban on your forum account. Ignorance of the rules is no excuse!

Problem fixed. I guess it only arises when transferring to emunand. Actually all digital titles won't show up until you access the eshop again.

So just to be clear, my game saves and extdata can be properly transferred over by copying the right Nintendo 3DS folder over? I can redownload most games and restore most saves but I don't want to lose streetpass data and also newer game saves like Pokemon Picross. Thanks again for trying!

Dude,Just Respect The Rules...

How about not snapping at people who didn't actually break the rules?

Every archive that I directly updated to this site has the firmware file removed, and I can not control what people do with links to content I upload elsewhere. Also, to my knowledge @JackyD has not uploaded it either.

So if you and @ihaveamac would kindly refrain from turning this thread into a discussion about what is and isn't against the rules, that would be great.

We are ALL aware that directly linking and/or posting copyrighted material is against the rules, but randomly chiming into effectively say "Oooh! Oooh! Someone posted something against the rules!!!" is not helpful. If you feel the need to direct attention to it, simply report the post to the mods or, better yet imo, kindly pm the poster and request they remove the content.

Last edited by Aroth,
I removed the link he was referring to. My bad, I thought it was the same link that was also shared before, which doesn't include copyrighted material, and I didn't check myself.

Yes you won't lose anything. It never hurts to backup any save game you can using the built-in backup feature. Actually all your eshop games will show up as soon as you login eshop again after aborting the transfer. You just need to unwrap all of them and reload your home menu layout.

If I am on rei9.5 and have some gave saves in the emunand, will I lose theose saves if I update rei to 10.3 ?
