From a very reliable source ( SKFU ) we have a striking new feature for the PS3. Although the actual feature in question is currently 'hidden', it is similar to a serial system "which Sony will soon start activating. Since the root keys on the street you can see every homebrew tool (including backup management) make it sound like it was made by Sony. This makes it so hard for Sony to gamers with backup managers to detect and block. The idea is that soon every Blu-ray disc, disc with a unique number, comes with a serial key. . These 'serial-key then works then only with its Blu-ray disc with matching number."

So it will soon be so should work, that when you a game buys and PlayStation 3 , you activate it with your 'serial-key "and thus a call to Sony to show that you are authorized for that game play on your PlayStation 3. Reportedly, any 'serial-key may be used only five times, as many PlayStation Store downloads.Given the implementation according to our source has already been done in the PlayStation Network, and three unknown input fields on the PlayStation Network, is the probability that this system will be introduced enormous.

-----------------------------------------

For a Quick Version

This means all PS3 Blu-Ray Games will come with a activation key (IE PC game syle) that will be required during install. Key may be only used 5 Times (5 Different PS3 consoles) and this quite literally makes second hand no more on ps3 titles (new one that require keys).

Even if that happens, someone will figure out how to crack those within a week.

It doesn't kill off second-hand purchases at all... In fact, I'm pretty sure people don't continuously buy preowned games and sell them back once they're done - that's an awfully expensive rental service, after all.

rental.. how about blockbuster, gamefly and such game rentals.

Or when games become "old", or no longer produced

Games go down in price quite quick here in the US. New Vegas is going for 39 new at Gamestop. Mass Effect 2 is going for 19. Some people only play games for the Trophies/Achievements. You could rent a game 5 times and not get all the achievements (not including Gamefly here). I've traded in a game before, then saw someone else get it right after I did so. I have then seen that game two more times in the same Gamestop. I can tell that it was mine because it had the receipt right where I put it to begin with. Apparently it has changed hands at least 5 times (according to Gamestop employees).

Actually I did this with 360 games I'd buy a used copy and if I liked it I'd keep it and if I didn't I'd get a full refund from Gamestop.

Same here, renting places are also out of the question with this system.

Wont Ever Happen! Every retailer who sells second hand games will stop selling PS3's in protest. Gamestop, Game ect would drop all sony's products like a stone. Why do you think games on demand on 360 doesn't carry new releases?

who is this SKFU that they speak of ?

... reliable huh ... wow what i bad approach if applied, i'd so give up on this whole 3rd gen console thing and then just go PC

everything turned to shit with the PS3 thanks to all this "homebrew" - thanks for nothing i suppose.

i'd say more of a FW 3.60, and so on to keep the pirates offline, and not to mention all those harmful cheats - regardless, Piracy will still exist, just a matter of controlling it now.
