and how big is windows 95? I think windows 95 is on a 650mb CD so...thats alot of floppies o.o

It's not nearly that big. I burned a CD with a couple of MS-DOS versions, Windows 95 and Windows 98. Windows 95 was less than 300 MB.

I guess the floppy version was smaller anyway. They probably used more compression and it probably had less extras. For example, my Windows 95 CD came with a few game demos, which were probably left out from the floppy version.

My thoughts exactly, I wonder why they didn't stop long ago, there's probably not even a thousand people that still use floppy disks worldwide...

Song were acctually still shipping them in the high millions - so it goes to show that quite a lot of people still use them.

I still have all my Windows '95 floppy discs - unopened - it is about 7, or 10. I am pretty sure it was 7 though.

I love floppy disc's!

They will stop making them around March 2011 - so if you need them I would stock up now

I imagine you'd still be able to buy at least external floppy disc drives for years to come.

I'll agree with what some of the people have said already, no one uses floppy's any more. Even if you can't write on cd's there are other options better ones... like usb flash drives for one, floppy's hold to little data.

I loved them

I should buy a 5.25" drive for teh lulz. Probably to fit one in my future uber-retro gaming rig (because Dosbox is not like the real thing

I found some High density and Double Density floppies in a box with my Famicom, I'm going to keep them since they are empty and sell them in 10 years.

amiga was the worse with discs not only did they have several discs but instead of putting all the data on 1 disc and leaving it in than swap when it was time to get to disk 2 they had you swapping back and forth over 9000 times!!!

a worthy decision... sony is trying to cut back on the extra stuffs that do bring as much as the cost of people working for them
strategy changes in the recent years including 3d and HD
